Finding an OEM sunburst yellow HT in good condition is next to impossible. Finding a white or red one is easy as fuck. Yes it might take him a while to sell that hard top, and probably not at the price. But there are premiums for the weird colors for people who don't want repainted ones. While us people on miataturbo don't care about the color or originality, there is a large segment of the miata collectors population who do. If you have a 25k mile perfect condition sunburst yellow NA and plan on keeping it that way, I could easily see that person picking up a matching hardtop in equally good condition for a premium.

Well now you left me with no choice. I have to buy it, scuff it up with whatever grit sandpaper is lying on my work bench, and bomb it with some old black spray paint.

I've got a kind of rare color, Luguna Blue '94 ~1800 made versus like ~1500 sunburst yellow. Car has its original off the showroom floor hardtop. And some guy at the Pomona Swap Meet (wasn't entered, just parked) offered me $2000 for it, right there with cash in hand.

So they are out there.

So what color hardtop did you replace it with?

I mean, you took it, right?

Isn't Sunburst different from the 2002 SE Yellow? I believe that's an NB OEM top (Or late NA, but yellow was only on '92 and '02) since it's got factory defrost, no?

Correct.

That's a Blazing Yellow top. If you heathens cared more about the cars you'd drive, you know EVERY color they ever came in, and each would hold a place near and dear to your heart.

I believe my black hardtop was once a sunburst yellow hardtop.
