Serious thread: Do any of you ever identify with
Do any of you ever identify with some of the lyrics in this song or am I just getting older and more reflective?
|
Yeah pretty much. Feels like life is spinning it's wheels.
|
So it's just me and that guy?
When I woke today suddenly nothing happened. (Colin Hay was the lead singer and primary songwriter for the group "Men at Work" for any of you that remember the '80's.) |
Can't see vid at work, what is the song?
|
I dont feel like that anymore.

You've probably not heard it before. I came across it because some of his other songs popped up on one of my Pandora internet radio channels and I investigated him further. He wrote and performed "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Living in a Land Down Under" by Men at Work back in the day. He was the lead singer. I really enjoy his acoustic version of their '80's hit "Overkill" as well. Sometimes I'm just in an acoustic mood. (Ignore the videos because they were created by youtube users and have distracting visual themes) And I enjoy this tune called "It's a Beautiful World" |
My real life has begun.

I identify with these:
In the darkest tunnel it's nice to see a light Not just a headlight Like the one that's heading right for me It would be nice if things could turn out right Turn out right yeah Don't think I'll ever see the day I must have done something wrong Or maybe pissed off god. I think of Chinese food when I think of life That's sweet and sour My life is sweet as saccharine You know 3 week old milk and grapes are not Not the same, no I am the one Johnny Carcinogen I must have fucked with some witch In turn she cursed me, cursed my life At the end of the longest line That's where I will always be If you need to find me Just go to the end of the longest line But officer that was a yellow light The light was red, son Insubordination, reckless driving I must be wrong this can't be right I don't belong, this world is much to dangerous For someone lacking luck like me At the end of the longest line That's where I will always be If you need to find me Just go to the end of the longest line At the end of the longest line That's where I will always be At the end of the longest line You know when you're sure that no one gives a crap, you're on the right track It's a fact And when you believe, things are good it's guaranteed you're up your ass It's a fact Morons through the world, and it's shitty place no one ever asked to be born It's a fact You know every time you think you've got it right, you're totally wrong It's a fact And when you really try the efforts misapplied or there's a catch It's a fact When you've got a sure thing, you're sure to fuck it up It's one thing you can count on every time It's a fact What can you do? Absolutely nothing don't even try to amount to something It will never work and Hitler is a jerk, and soon we'll all be dead anyway It's a fact (you suck) In five billion years the sun will explode It's in the bible It's a fact And no one will know that we were ever here It's a fact It's a fact So rest assured in knowing that what you do don't matter Some one can do it better anyway It's a fact It's a fact and of course for my impatientness: |

Once you have a kid, everything changes. You live for them, and not yourself. When that happens, your life has meaning.

When you finally go W2W, your life has meaning. Until then, you're just a breeder. |

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

Emo thread is emo. You guys need to quit bitching and go do some shit you want to instead of "reflecting" on it.

Does this mean I've been on MT too long? P.S.- This is the song I want to live by, and not for the little girls But it seems my life has been this as of late |
This thread has caused me to have a few drinks.

NOT what I needed to hear while watching the fall-out from the Newtown school shooting... but yeah, my boat's come in - too bad it's a dinghy that goes flat often

Get your lighters in the air:
I identify a lot with the notion of being a simple man, I feel like crap gets way, way, way too complicated these days and it's far to easy to loose sight of the things that are important to you, whatever they may be. I can't help but thinking everyday that I spend too much time on things that aren't long run important--I guess that's why I like it so much. That and Skynyrd rocks. Also the audio quality in that video sucks, my apologies everyone. |

Kill yourself now, to avoid becoming old & desperate. I've always liked this song. Don't know why, but I really like the lyrics, too. I guess that makes it a good candidate for this thread. If I think she beautiful, well that's for sure Give a little loving, but I still gon need some more, rob it Stealing from the rich and then give it to the poor Telling everbody it don't matter anymore, she said All I really needed was a friend like you Help me through and together we can change, but If I was to stay it wasn't for too long People sing the same song everywhere I'm going Closer to the sun and far from the moon People screaming out they gonna see me real soon, they say oooo If I think she beautiful, well that's for sure Give a little loving, but I still gon need some more, rob it Stealing from the rich and then give it to the poor Telling everbody it don't matter anymore, said All I really needed was a friend like you Help me through and together we can change, but If I was to stay it wasn't for too long People sing the same song everywhere I'm going Closer to the sun and far from the moon People screaming out they gonna see me real soon, they say oooo |
You're a gaffot.
Sorry, I mean, "why no, I 'don't". |
I identify with these lyrics:
"Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well [x2] My chain hits my chest When I’m banging on the dashboard My chain hits my chest When I’m banging on the radio Get back, get down Pull me closer if you think you can hang Hands up, hands tied Don’t go screaming if I blow you with a bang Suki Zuki I’m coming in the Cherokee gasoline There’s steam on the window screen Take it, take it Wheels bouncing like a trampoline When I get to where I’m going, gonna have you trembling Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well [x2] My chain hits my chest When I’m banging on the dashboard My chain hits my chest When I’m banging on the radio Yeah back it, back it Yeah pull up to the bumper game Yeah with a signal Cover me, cause I’m changing lanes Had a handle on it My life, I broke it When I get to where I’m going, gonna have you saying it Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well [x2] My chain hits my chest When I’m banging on the dashboard My chain hits my chest When I’m banging on the radio [x2] Get back, get down Pull me closer if you think you can hang Hands up, hands tied Don’t go screaming if I blow you with a bang Going out for beer child seat for a million Accelerating fast I could do this in a second Looking in the rear view swagger going swell Leave them boys behind kisses leave em just to kill Shift gear automatic damned if I do Who's gonna stop me when I'm coming through What we got left is just me and you Boy if I go to bed baby can I take you? Get back, get down Pull me closer if you think you can hang Hands up, hands tied Don’t go screaming if I blow you with a bang Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well Live fast, die young Bad girls do it well [x4] |

Some people have had the good wild sex but are deep enough to look for more in life and some aren't. I follow you. Most young people hear the booty music on the radio and think they are getting everything in life if they screw bimbos and act confident in dance clubs. That's all there is at their mentality level, and that's fine for them, but some of us live life a bit deeper and always feel there is another level to achieve; A deeper, more fulfilling plane of existence where immense sexual gratification and the adoration of simple-minded peers are still leaving us searching for something more meaningful and fulfilling. Please understand I don't mean to demean you, but there is more to achieve in life for some.
I don't brag but my (sometimes quite wild) physical conquests were numbered in several dozens prior to finding the right woman. But I didn't understand the true possibility of the depth of true love until many years after we had first become a couple together. Sometimes age adds clairvoyance only appreciated by those who possess it. My initial post in this thread was from a couple of years ago. I felt like I was waiting for the next chapter to begin, for the other shoe to drop. It has. My wife and I are in the process of adopting a girl out of the state foster care system, and have been for many months. She is a sweet girl who really needs a mommy and daddy, and I will strive to be equal to the task. They look up to me and depend upon me for their livelihood and for leadership and I will honor that trust by serving them admirably. I was taught that a good leader provides for those in his charge before himself and I solemnly believe that that to be my duty. I don't expect many to understand, but for the few who are equal to the task in their own lives, I honestly salute you and will attempt to carry my share as well. Yes, this was a bit personal. But if you guys aren't able to be trusted with deep, personal, emotional confessions here on the internet, who is? |
