About 5 months ago I noticed the main sewage outlet from my house, which goes to a septic tank, fractured due to expansive soil - constant contraction/expansion cracked the 3" ABS main right before it goes subterranean. I put a wrap patch on it figuring it would hold since it's not a pressurized line. And it did hold, quite well actually, for several months. Then it fractured again, big time. It must have happened a couple days ago because I now have a considerable pile of feces and toilet paper and hair on the ground outside my house with flies buzzing 'round. I'm taking a break from the digging portion of the repair just to share with you the joy I'm having.

Truthfully, I'd much rather do a clutch R&R.

been there done that, go get some Clorox, that will kill the smell, and get rid of the flys. I live in the sticks, so was not a real big deal, just ran a lot of water on it to dilute it, and with in a few days, no more smell. YMMV

Shit! (sorry chucker, pun intended lol). I guess that's one of the benefits of living in third world countries. I can hire someone and pay him almost nothing to do that.

Good tip. I'll keep it in mind. But the crap on the ground turned out to be the least of my concerns. See, being crouched in the crawlspace under the house, using a sawzall to cut through the other end of the not-totally-drained waste line, was some serious kickass fun. My boots were quickly “muddy”. Hepatitis anyone? That was my stupid fault for not running fresh water through before cutting.

Almost nothing? I got a quote from a plumber (who I know) and he wanted the equivalent of half the price of a full 3” Enthuza.

Aside from getting shit in my boots, worst part of the job was Home Depot.

It's cool now. Flex joint ftw.

Definately a nasty job. Yeah, you first need to run water until it goes clear. A load or two of white laundry with detergent and bleach makes the job much less disgusting, though still no joy.

But at least it was your own. I can't imagine that kind of job at a stranger's house.

LOL the side of your house has shit stain.

Nice job! I'm glad you're done with it. If I had to pay as much as you, I'd follow your path.

Um... Can you give yourself Hepatitis?

Oh the joys of septic systems. I've had two. Thankfully pretty trouble free.
