Shot rotors

So... My rotors are pretty shot, I was wondering what you guys suggest. I was thinking about going the drilled and slotted rotors route. Should I keep going with a non slotted rotor?

Most people (including people who track their cars) run fairly cheap blank rotors. Definitely do not get drilled rotors because they crack. Slots are also not necessary.

You should do more research kale sausage... There's even a mega thread on brakes that I will refuse to link you too.

Drilled rotors 'look' cool but do not provide any additional benefit. Consensus on them is that they WILL fail due to heat. Leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth when they're done with you. :eggplant:

OEM rotors are great when paired with a good pad. Just don't goto vatozone and pick up china made rotors, the metallurgy mix could be lacking and won't be near the quality of a better find.

Slotted are great for performance applications. With each rotation giving you a continual clean pad surface.

Pads vary from one another on different applications. Street vs track oriented etc.

Good stainless steel brake lines will improve pedal feel.

my mercedes came with drilled rotors...

your mercedes drilled rotors aren't $30 rotors

OP- you invested too much time into researching this and posted way too many details in the original post. Please stop being so detail oriented, dilligent, and asking such important and never before asked questions.

You're making the other people look bad.

Braineack 10-22-2015 12:07 PM

closer to $50.

NAPA.

In my experience, the cheapest rotors they sell are cheaper than the cheapest rotors sold nearly anywhere else, and they work just fine.
