$2400 - Not much considering the car.
Or you can go with the dodson one:

Here is some food for thought though, taken from some racing team's examination of the gear set after destroying it:
Mmmm
$2400 - Not much considering the car.
Extreme Duty 1st Gear Replacement:
• Over 40% more tooth width and contact area than standard gears
• Significant tooth width increases over competitor 1st gear “upgrades”
• Increased shaft thickness, eliminating shaft deflection
• Gear “ground” tooth forming rather than “cutting” delivering tooth profile perfection.
• CMM scanned with robotic CMM machines ensuring gear and shaft perfection post-heat treatment.
• No need to unnecessarily replace reverse gear
• Anti-fatigue shot peening of all components
• Billet “proprietary grade” steel construction.
• Manufactured to ISO 9001 2009 international quality standards

The damage appears to be isolated to first gear and the gear shaft. After looking closely at the torn apart first gear, they noticed a pattern of hairline cracks in different places on the gear. Samurai had launched their highly modified, 600+HP Nissan GT-R over 100 times, pulling some very quick 60′ times that dipped below 1.5 seconds on some of their runs.

if you want 500 horsepower, get the G8 GXP (400 stock) full exhaust (including long tube headers), intake and a tune might get you there. It'd be a lot more expensive with a BMW or Audi obviously, but the luxury factor would be there. I still like the Cayman S idea.

G8 is for middle classers.
Z will be easier to wrench on when you get the itch.
What about an Elise? Its lower powered, but it'll keep you from realizing the Miata is useless after feeling the power of a 427.

The GTR looks like ****. I can't get over how much my eyes hurt after looking at that car.
Min, stay true to your car feelings, but whatever you get, please make a thread on it when you start modding.

An Elise would be no better as a daily then an NA miata except for it'd be faster and handle and brake better. I don't then they even have radios, I know that if they do have them, it isn't a standard feature. IDK if they have A/C either...

$50,000!? Buy 50 Geo Metros, and have a fleet of fuel economical cars. Spray paint each of them a different color so it's a new experience every day of the month.
I would almost never buy a brand new car. It's really quite stupid to pay that much more money, when you could buy one pre-owned only a year old with under 20k miles (just broken in) for 2/3 the cost of new, or less.
