Should I give negative feedback for manifold without studs

Ok so I bought a begi 1.8 manifold for 250+ it was ceramic coated and in great condition. The pics show it with studs.

So here is what happened. I tried to get the price down but he says shipping is 50 dollars so he can not accept less. I figure its worth it since it perfect and hey this guy has to eat 50 in shipping. So I paypall him the cash with the condition that
"Manifold in perfect condtion with no broken studs"

I recieve it in a 10 dollar USPS flat rate box that is ripped becuase the manifold did not really fit. OK he saved some cash no big deal but it had no studs at all.
I pm the seller dont here back for a week and a half. He says he was on a business trip. He will not pay for new studs says they are not reuseable and I should not have expected them. He seems like a nice guy but I just dont feel like he was upfront and clear about the purchase.
Should I give him negative feedback the item was in good shape?

I'd give him negative feedback in a heartbeat. But that's just me.

Miater 03-07-2012 02:00 PM

Because steel/stainless studs do stretch when they are used, he is right about not wanting to reuse them. How ever if the deal was for the manifold as pictured or with studs, as you stated, he should have sent them too. I would give him the option to send you the studs, make a change in price or get the feed back he is asking for, negitive.

New studs are about a dollar a piece at any local ace hardware store. I would not sweat the cost of buying new studs, and if not using Inonel studs, I would also replace with new ones. I would be more concerned about paying $50 for shipping. There is no way that shipping a cast manifold should cost anywhere near $50 in the lower 48 unless it was shipped 2 day or better.

blaen99 03-07-2012 02:15 PM

SHOE-iend sums up my thoughts perfectly - doubly so because of the $10 flat rate box.

mgeoffriau 03-07-2012 02:16 PM

lulz at demanding $50 shipping and then sending in a flat-rate box.

EO2K 03-07-2012 02:29 PM

USPS just shipped me a 65lb VVT head and it cost me $36, and that was with insurance. That $50 would piss me off to no end. :2cents:? I agree with Miater, give the seller the chance to fix it or get neg'd. Link to FS thread?

Braineack 03-07-2012 02:30 PM

par tof that $50 paid for the free box!

devin mac 03-07-2012 02:46 PM

well, technically you received no broken studs... correct?

Doppelgänger 03-07-2012 03:16 PM

Neg feedback for the guy skimming on shipping charges (aka lying about it rather than giving actual costs....who the hell thinks it costs $50 to ship a fucking manifold?!?)

90 Turbo 03-07-2012 03:17 PM

I would love to post the fs thread but it was deleted which i did not think was possible but I have searched with no luck.
The seller was Weaver i bought it about 3 weeks ago

Yeah in his last responce to me he said he just dropped it off and let the guy take care of it. I pm'd him that if he paid 50 for it he should ask for a refund.
On the studs being cheap thats fine. When I ask for the begi studs he mentioned fastenel which would be fine if he had offered to pay for them thru fastenel. I would not even consider neg feedback but he is not offering that at all.

Begi sells two different sets of studs, they have normal stainless ones, and Inconel. I am almost 100% positive they sell all their kits with just the normal stainless ones unless you specifically ask for and pay extra for the Incnonel ones. The studs you buy from fastenel or ACE or from Begi will all be just about the same.

Feedback is all about how you felt the transaction went, if you feel you got shafted, let him and everyone else know. I personally would be pissed about the $50 for shipping and then showing up in a flat rate $10 box. I don't think I would ever drop something off at the PO/UPS/FedEx and let them handle the packing, I just wouldn't trust them. I also don't think I paid more than $50 to have my entire Greddy kit shipped to me (Mani, DP, turbo + all misc stuff) Packed really nicely in a box.

I value my time. Creating a thread like this and any drama that results from a negative feedback rating, plus the risk of people not wanting to deal with me in case they think I'm a little bitch, is simply not worth the $8 for new studs. (being metric, I would assume closer to $2/stud rather than $1.)

I also agree with those that have suggested replacing them anyways. With inconel or at least new SS.
