quick release hubs?

Just wondering if anybody uses them and if they're all pretty much the same quality. Like, is this crap?

I got mine from Tekniq auto, not bearing based, if you look at the retention mechanism it's pretty solid. Plus there's a three peg fitment system that's different on every snap off so someone with a Tekniq system can't just come and put his wheel on your ride and take off.

Looks like it's 26.00 shipped. You 'could' buy it and see if it's up to par. I don't know what a good one goes for, but if it isn't more than 50 I would go with the known quality one. Everyone here has a valid point, it is your life. But if nobody ever buys one we will never know if it's a good one or not.

I wouldn't mess with that crap!

If you want a QR, NRG is about as cheap as I would go. A quality unit will cost you $150ish. Sweet Mfg. would be a good recommendation.

Make sure you buy a QR that uses splines not a hex. The hex will get sloppy. Nothing better than sloppy steering!

check out the ones used in cup porsches. They all seem to be the same, probably expensive, but always have a nice assymetrical shape, tight fit, and whatever.

I haven't used a D shaped up. But I have run a car that had a cheapie with minimal teeth and it was impossible to put it on and get it aligned proper. Yes, you can adjust the tie rods, but on the flip side if you're making toe changes up front, you can just adjust one tie rod and then pull your wheel off and stick it back on aligned - presto!

I have an NRG gen1 you can get them on ebay for less than $100. They are a really high quality knock off of the Japanese Works-Bell QR. I've heard their Slim line QRs are CRAP though.

You can get Works hubs for cheap. Google Honda-Tech and it's a forum, the vendors there are pretty good, I bought some stuff from a couple of them.

The Snap Off brand is one of the nicest around. I ran one for 2 years on my Miata and it never got sloppy. Shoot me a PM if you are interested as Speedware has them in stock.
