Sightings

What's the coolest car related thing you've seen while driving?

My best story is when I was driving a company S10 down a road that was 2 lanes each way with a center concrete divider. I heard it coming from behind before I saw it in my rear view. I couldn't tell what it was, but from the profile, the sound, and how fast it was advancing I knew it was exotic. By the time I could identify it, the red Ferrari 360 blew right by me, with a red 355 on its ass. I pushed that poor little S10 as hard as I could, weaving through traffic as the Ferraris pulled further away until I couldn't see them anymore. A few minutes later, the Ferraris blasted past me again, but coming from the opposite direction, the 360 being closely followed by the 355.

Oh, and since I was in a company vehicle (you know with the name and phone number on the side) I got several calls from shocked motorists bitching about the idiot in the little white truck who was chasing a Ferrari.

haha, one time i was on teh highway and three black lowered FD rx-7s with black whells blew by me

SamS 12-19-2006 12:35 PM

One time I was driving my semi, and three lowered black civics started harassing me, weaving under the trailer and such. I killed them.

SamS 12-19-2006 12:38 PM

The coolest thing that actually happened, however, would be seeing a yellow Murcielago when I was riding my Duc to work. I know a lot of you see these all the time, but it was odd for a town of 5000 in WI.

Another time, driving through Chicago, or rather sitting in traffic, a modded silver S4 came flying by everyone on the shoulder. One of the baddest exhausts I've ever heard.

Oh god i love those, that musta been badass

Braineack 12-19-2006 01:40 PM

I see Maseratis, Ferraris, Vipers, Porsches on a weekly/biweekly basis.

The coolest thing I think I've seen was a 16/17 year old in a brand new cobra. I was about to turn right off a highway as he was turning left onto it. Trying to impress his friend I guess he gunned it, oversteered, let-go and over corrected and drove straight into our local pepsi plant's sign.

then there's my cell phone pix...

Broke ass Lambo:

Back up in MI, there's good ol' Exit 69, Big Beaver Rd on I-75.

In SLC there are a lot of money cars, I see TT Porsches daily, even in bad weather, that awd must work well. See 2 or 3 Elises a week, Ferraris every other week. And probably 15-20 AMG upgraded MB's seen daily. Oh, then there is the family with 2 Ford GT's in the garage, a red one and a blue one, I heard they have some connection to one of the salt mining companies.

zoom2zoom 12-20-2006 03:09 AM

Oh, the coolest thing?? Other than seeing a Carrera GT on the road in New Mexico 2 years ago this week with snow still on the sides of the road, not too much cooler than that. Unless you want to count the time I saw a couple getting it on in the front seat of a Jetta 30 feet off the side of the highway just past Park City in the middle of the day.

VRTSid 12-20-2006 03:51 AM

not too long ago I saw a Lambo muria being chased by a pantera. they were "racing" but really just driving fast together.

and a few years back I got passed by a db12 while I was doing about 100 on my motorcycle, he must have been doing 120-130 because he sucked me into his lane as he passed and it sounded like a Tie fighter. so cool.

Living in DC has it's advantages as braineack said.

Authough you gata love the street bikes that fly past at 3am at 150mph out of nowhere. Also I love seeing the random r32 skylines. One time I saw a modded r33 just cruzin thru mid-afternoon traffic. :bigtu:

Braineack 12-20-2006 08:39 AM

My buddy owns an r33. Yeah lots of rich folks here that have small penises.

kotomile 12-20-2006 08:49 AM

Was the semi trailer filled with Panasonic DVD players?

Running from LAX to Lancaster, CA in 45 mins while racing a Porsche 911 Twin Turbo at speeds in excess of 145 MPH up the 14 Freeway. He had me on the straights, just walked me, I had him in the curves thanks to my street tires.... B F Goodrich R1's, LOL, He was not amused by the trans am leaving him in the corners, I was not amused by how badly he walked me on the straights... but we had a great time.

last week a guy in a yellow with black stripes R33 Skyline showed up to our Miata meet. Car was not modded much but it was interesting to see

The coolest thing I ever saw in the summer this year in downtown Vancouver
was a pack of 8 Lamborghini's cruising around together.

RusMan 12-22-2006 01:12 AM

I see alot of exotics/expensive cars around here. Some i've seen are bentley's (big 2 door ones, sometimes biiig 4 doors), F360's, F430, Ferrari enzo(red) best sound ever!, gallardo(fast!), maseratti something, skylines etc.

I've only tried racing the maseratti, and lost :(

spike 12-22-2006 01:38 AM

Rusman, that Enzo probably belongs to Bill Gates or one of his associates.

Rage_Kage 12-22-2006 01:42 AM

oh god Nissan Skyline GT-R FTMFW!!! still have yet to see one though

Fritch 12-22-2006 09:18 AM

just this morning I saw a real white R34 Skyline on I-4 westbound heading into Tampa. It had a nice body kit and big wing on the back and really caught me off gaurd when he passed me on the left and I saw him driving on the right side lol

nightrider1992 12-22-2006 12:38 PM

I saw a state trooper on the side of the interstate while I was doing in excess of 150mph in my mr2. I came over a hill on a lonely Thursday night and there he was.

So what's the rest of this story?

I lit 'em up in the Miata right infront of a cop a month or so ago. He was exiting a parking lot, turning onto the street right behind me when I did it. It gave me that "aww shit" panic feeling in my chest and gut because he immediately rolled up behind me.... and did absolutely nothing :dunno: :fawk:

Braineack 12-22-2006 01:42 PM

my buddy raced a grand national in his 300hp/500tq mustang and got pulled over....luckily he had Faternal Order of Police tags.....cop goes...you would of had him if it wasn't for all the wheelspin....next time work on your launches...let's him go with a little advice

Newbsauce 12-22-2006 02:07 PM

Funniest thing ever happened to me a few weeks ago.. I was on Rt 100 in PA and just flying along playing w/ a mustang cobra... and out of nowhere I was passed by a Ford GT500. Yeah talk about getting owned.

turbopezz 12-22-2006 06:20 PM

i saw a r33gtr skyline the other day in brooklyn(SHIThole)it look like the cars in front and back of him used his bumpers as bumpers to get in the parking spot.it was blue with a big intercooler

Markp 12-22-2006 09:50 PM

Just reminded me of a funny story:

Bike and Miata pull up to a stop light. Miata sounds like a firetruck siren, twin screw supercharger unthrottled. Bike rolls out, Miata keeps pace, Bike and Miata simultaneously get on it, banging gears.... Ooops There is Johnny Law... Motorcycle cop, He's looking none too amused with his hands on his hips and mirrored sunglasses... giving a very disapproving gaze. He already has someone pulled over but no doubt he heard both the bike and the supercharged Miata... How can you not hear it... You could hear it for blocks!!! We both dived on the brakes and coasted by at near the posted speed limit... I thought he would pop me, but he didn't.

After realizing that I could no longer be trusted with a 250 RWHP supercharged miata, I took the supercharger off my customers car while I worked out the other bugs with his install. I was going to go to jail otherwise, as the day before I had done a NASCAR style burnout in the local Taco Bell drive through as a unmarked patrol car pulled into the parking lot. I grinned and the cop just sorta smiled, I think he found the miata amusing.

y8s 12-23-2006 10:01 AM

maybe, mark, if you had an s/c miata you'd just have to make it look as girlie as posible. then they couldn't help but laugh it off and you get away with it.

iluvtruenos 12-23-2006 11:15 AM

Yea, paint the daisies pink with white centers.
