silverado vs z06

in case you haven't seen this one yet

kotomile 02-20-2007 09:34 PM

Nice.

Seen a few like that, those diesels can make some serious power. Just imagine if they weren't all in lead sleds.

hustler 02-20-2007 10:34 PM

lol

y8s 02-20-2007 11:46 PM

It is fun to have unsuspectingly fast vehicles. I think I surprise more people in the Trailblazer SS than in the Miata. One is about as fast as the other, but a 400 hp SUV is pretty uncommon.

jeffsl 02-21-2007 07:45 PM

wow

thats an suv i want.

It takes a lead sled to handle those built turbo diesels. Monster torque and huge heavy.

That guy beat the Z06 by about the same margin at 80' as at the end. Would have been about even if he hadn't wasted him off the line.

For SUV's that SRT Jeep is pretty quick too.

miatamania 02-21-2007 09:21 PM

wow...thats pretty quick

krayzrac3r 02-21-2007 10:49 PM

my gosh.... now lets see them both take a turn lol. Still amazing performance for a truck. Those diesels have a crap load of potential. Theres a guy that lingers around on honda tech that has a dodge truck with 400 hp and like 900 torque @ the wheels. ( a friend of mine knows him)

miataspeed1point6 02-22-2007 12:57 AM

I read somewhere they have a huge advantage because they have no throttle body. Not to mention the charge pipes and exhausts on them are HUGE!

TurboTim 02-22-2007 08:45 AM

HAHAHAHA HOLY SHIT!

God damn. damn damn.

Hell, a 12.18 quarter in something that weighs like 5000#!

Sbrian - my buddy just bought a Trailblazer SS. 400hp is good, but I told him I won't respect him unless he can get smoke from all 4! :D

sbrian2 02-22-2007 12:20 PM

Mine is 2wd so the only way I'll get smoke from all 4 is to slide it sideways. 2wd is faster than 4wd from what I've heard, proabably due to the weight of the other gearboxes.

krayzrac3r 02-22-2007 12:39 PM

whats the 1/4 mile for these trailblazer SS's

sbrian2 02-22-2007 01:22 PM

High 13's stock, 12's are very attainable with bolt ons and tuning.

bripab007 02-22-2007 01:42 PM

I like it, but I like the Cherokee SRT-8 better ;)

Other Advantages:
-the newer ones run between 1200-1600 bar fuel pressure
-Diesel=efficient
-Stock head-gaskets can handle infinite boost
-bottom end is damn near bulletproof

The Banks Sidewinder that set the land speed record for a diesel truck was running a factory block and bottom end. They essentially modified the head, intake, turbo, exhaust, tuning, injectors, etc etc... but the stock bottom end was holding the 750HP and 1500 lb*ft of torque they were throwing down.

Oh yeah, and it was still emissions legal in California.
