Sleeping bag suggestions?

I need a new sleeping bag. I can probably get away with spending around $200, more if I chip in. I would like to be comfortable at 0 F and be able to survive the night if it is wet. Smaller and lighter the better, I am 6'2 but am a skinny ass. Any suggestions?

Try a military surplus store that is local to you, they will have something that will fit your needs.

Well 0 deg is going to be a mummy bag. You're tall so I'd go for a long. Mummy's are cramped enough. For dryness choose a synthetic filler over down and make sure the shell is waterproofed. This one is pretty popular: The North Face Snowshoe +0 Sleeping Bag - Long at REI.com

Thanks!

I wonder how that bag would compare to a newer government surplus one? I am a public school employee, so I can buy stuff at the actuall surplus center for school use, but it is also a drive. I just don't want to freeze to death and have my wife start driving my miata.

I would go North Face...I have government equipment and I like how easy to use my North Face is. I'm 6'3" 300lbs and I fit just fine (tight).

I got out of the military in 1988 so it's been a while and back then the gear was so/so. I hate being cold and a sleeping bag with a good pad and hat is mandatory for me. I did some time on the AT and a kelty bag was my choice at the time but again, it's been a while.

AT (GSMNP) with my 7th and 8th grade students. Good fun.

Dont know how oftem they come up for sale but if you can find an old eddie bauer down mummy bag they are outstanding. Has to be from when they were an actual outfitter back in the 80s early 90s. You may get lucky on ebay.
