2160 x 3840! Wooooo!

It's been 20 minutes and I'm already noxious, I figure this will not end well.

Ben 05-30-2012 07:06 PM

You sure about that resolution? You may have hit that Cocaine a little too much.

Mine are running 3840 x 1080.

And seriously, why do you have a can labeled Cocaine on your desk?

EO2K 05-30-2012 07:10 PM

I figured that would be the first thing anyone noticed... It was a gift from a coworker, or I traded a can of Brawndo for it, can't remember. It lives on my desk because it pisses off one of the ladies in our finance department that has no business in my office :giggle:

Humm, I guess it should be 3840 x 2160?

18psi 05-30-2012 07:13 PM

one helluva drug

EO2K 05-30-2012 07:18 PM

Ben, how do you work like this? Do you write code all day or something?

Coding and reading the ENTIRE front page of Reddit without scrolling seem to be the only advantages to this setup.

My home setup. Kicks ass for flight sim, racing, BF3. There's a bit of a mismatch at the bezels due to the different sizes, but it doesn't hurt gameplay. I do have to say, though, Eyefinity could be easier to use. I have yet to find a method to switch between extended desktop and eyefinity without having to reconfigure everything each time.

EO2K 05-30-2012 07:44 PM

Nice!

I'll have to take a picture of my rig at home. Its a few years old now, but its still fun.

240_to_miata 05-30-2012 07:48 PM

I only run a single 24". I cant convince my boss to get me a dual monitor.

Ben 05-30-2012 07:59 PM

I see you changed your resolution, but I doubt that's it either. ;)
If you have a pair of 1920 x 1080 monitors paired up in portrait mode, your total resolution is 2160 x 1080. You double the horizontal pixels, but vertical pixels are unchanged compared to a single monitor in portrait orientation.

No I don't write code, but I do usually have multiple applications up at the same time (6 or more usually). Extended desktop is very useful when you have a lot of apps open. It makes working much more efficient and more pleasant. I wouldn't mind having a 3rd monitor.

DERP! Yeah I got it now, I don't have 4 monitors. I won't go back and edit the OP I guess.

Looking at source code for stuff is kinda fun like this, but I need a taller chair, or I need to ditch the monitor stands

?

Assuming that those monitors he has measure 1920 x 1080 when in the landscape orientation (which is what all the 23" Dells seem to be), the pair would be 2160 x 1920 when positioned as shown.

The resolution is smaller than your total native resolution, however the aspect ratio is correct at 1 : 1.125, so it will evenly scale to 2160 * 1920 at a multiplication of 1 / 0.45. If you select "stretch" then this should fit perfectly, with the dividing line between Tacgnol and Longcat falling precisely at the boundary between your two monitors.

:giggle: Must have been drunk posting again.

I am also running the triple monitor setup for race sims. Couldn't go back to a single now!

triple88a 05-31-2012 09:17 AM

2 monitors vertical are 2160x1920 resolution.
