So much for my injector install
Power went out at 9:00 this morning and is still off from our winter storm. Can't wait until spring. I bought a 20KVA Generac stand along generator with auto start and a transfer switch over the winter but couldn't install it as I couldn't pour the cement pad. I'm down to two laptop batteries. I could hook up the 7500 watt generator, but that entails dragging it out in the blizzard. Winter sucks and was supposed to be over by now..

Well, power is back on. We had our 5 and 7 year old nephews staying with us for the weekend. It's tough these days keeping kids busy without power for the pinball machine, video games or Cartoon Network, plus not being able to go outside. Had the wood fire going strong and it kept the house at 70* so no problems there. Cooked lunch on top of the wood stove. The kids said it was just like being in a cabin in Alaska.:giggle: We managed to get along fine and at least I can get back in the shop tonight after we take them home to their parents. One and a half days is usually my "kid limit" as we never had any of our own.

We face constant power outages down here and when we have problems that entitle more than 1 day without power we use 2 systems: a power generator for a few hours but also an inverter with batteries that are charged with the generator. Those generators are not built to be on for too many hours straight.
It's got to be frustrating seeing your generator right there and not being able to use it. Sorry man. |
Its awfully hot here.
Got all muggy today. Supposed to get down to the 60's on Tuesday though. har har har har |

Been brutal here past few days. Mid to high 80s, humid. And this is only spring...
Got a 6kw generator in the garage. Comes in handy during hurricane season here. You make friends real fast when you're the only one on the block running the fans and mixing margaritas. |

Ideally, I'd like to have one large enough to run the A/C. That'd just be the absolute bomb. |

I was out of power for a total of 5 weeks during the 2004 hurricanes (Got hit 3 times)
3 weeks for the 2005 Hurricanes (Got hit twice) Its absolutely surreal, especially in a natural disaster. I started resorting to a much more simple life, I would actually say it was nice. I just BBQ'd and went fishing everyday. There was no gas either unless we drove south, so I just hung out at my house with all my buddies. |
