I decided that instead of filling the new box with my old (mostly craftsman) tools, I'm going to purchase new tools instead. Been watching ebay all weekend and so far have picked up
gearwrench metric set, reversable, offset
gearwrench meteric set, no offset
misc snap on "speciality" type wrenches
crafstman midget metric set (I've never seen midget wrenches in other brands)

This week I plan to also pick up fullsize and stubby metric wrench sets. Deciding between SK, Mac, Matco, and Snap On. I work near the ghetto, so I'm wondering if any of the local pawn shops will have something. I'm also going to see if the Snap On man will do me any better than $100 for the standard 6 piece screwdriver set that he quoted me on a couple weeks ago.

Next month I'll start getting socket sets.

My next door neighbor was a head tech at BMW. He has his huge box which he had at BMW plus his BIL who was also a tech and worked for him. I've got probably $15K worth of tools (mostly Snap-on) at my disposal.

Me, I've got a crappy Craftsmen but a decent set of everything to disassemble a Miata.

Oh yea, and the 4-poster. ;)

$15k doesn't buy much snap on. A big box itself can be $8-10k. If he was a mechanic for a long time I'd wager he's got no less than $50k worth of tools. If not more.

Friend of mine is a Ford Mechanic and is always in debt to snapon. Toolbox alone was 20k...basically the same box as Nascar, pneumatic wheels and wired for power.

I will probably end up with the semi nice ss box from samsclub for just over $1000.

watch your local craigslist. there's almost always a good sized used Snap On, Mac, or Matco box there for the same price as a new Sams or Sears box.

Also got another set of these at the end of last week. These tiny little things are phenominal for getting to bolts with limited clearance. $16/set at Sears. One of the best tool investments I've ever made.

Just picked up this Snap On 6-20mm deep 6 point 3/8 set (used) from ebay. I had to--It was only $71!! (about $280 new)

Got a 4 piece snap on plier set and a Mac 1/2 drive socket set, 8-32mm :)
As well as various other sundries...

Still want/"need" to pick up Mac's extra shallow 3/8 metric socket set. Pretty cool set if you ask me.

Got my metric 12 pt 3/8 set. Mac 7-23mm :)
Going to get their extra shallow set for my 6 pt set.

Got my blackhawk set today, they really are the most badass wrenches I've ever owned. Thanks again for the heads up.

Those blackhawk wrenches earned their salt yesterday, I love them.

Yeah they are really nice. Their chrome finish isn't up to SnapOn standards, but their ratcheting mechanisms work extremely well. Better than Craftsman/GearWrench.

For the adapters and extensions, I've decided to go with this craftsman 21 piece set. It's $70 list, just waiting for a sale. I already have snap on u-joints, but having a second set can't hurt.

Future purchases will be specialty type pliers and a few different hammers. A snap on 2' breaker bar is high on the list. I also have small and large 3/8 ratchets but do not have a standard 7-8" ratchet for my new box (I do have a heavy as shit Husky in my old box). So I'll need to get one of those. Might also get a long handled 1/4 ratchet. IMO, 1/4 stuff is under appreciated, but I like it for doing certain work such as tightening bolts into aluminum.

Then it's time to get to the air tools. I got a compressor from my dad that I need to pick up. :)
