Someone Stole my CAT
Seriously, someone stole my Cat Converter off my 4runner. Went underneath with a sawzall and cut it free. Luckily they missed the 02 sensor and I was able to drive away. Hmmm i love Chicago. Last time I ever park on the street
|
weird.
you can get a pretty penny on ebay and scrap yard for old cats. |
That's odd, 4 months ago someone cut the cat off of my friends.... Toyota 4runner!!! They sell anywhere from 30-100 bucks each at a recycling center, depending on what's in them.
|
wtf? Well, you don't have to worry about people crawling under the miata to steal shit, just whatever they can reach in and grab.
|
I have heard about this, popular lately. Idiots.
|
haha its been very popular in so cal
|
Lucky they didn't steal your oil while they were at it.
What happened to Rican anyways...? |

That's f'd up man. They'll get $25-50 for the cat at a recycler. It'll cost you hundreds, probably over a thousand if you went to a Toyota dealer, and in that regard it might be worthwhile to claim it on comprehensive.
I hate government butting into our business, but it's time for recycling yards to operate more like pawn shops in regard to how they are allowed to collect goods. At a pawn shop, any item that comes in is catalouged with serial numbers and seller. When someone comes in with a load of cats and other automotive scrap, the yard needs to collect the seller's infomration and write down any vins if they exist. It's certainly a PITA for every legitimate person involved, but something needs to be done to curtail this type crime. Where I live, the theives are busting into roof-mounted HVAC systems over the weekends, to pull out $50 worth of copper. Unfortunately, it's costing the businesses several thousand to replace the units. They're also stealing the copper grounding straps that connect power transformers to the ground. The ground lines are only active if the transformer is shorted, and obviously you can't tell if it's conducting or not by looking at it. One of these days, one of the fuckers is going to get a 10k volt suprise. |
cats and copper is a big problem here too, fucking low lifes
|
More reason to toss in test pipe till your next inspection. This time though attach a note to the test pipe "not this time you fuckers".
|
first time and have parked in the same area for the past 50 years (my parents have been here awhile). And this is the first time we ever had a probleem.
I dont know what to do. Since they cut the piping, i might do insurance an get a new manifold and mid pipe. |
similar issues here.there was a guy that would rob all the copper wires.that where being ran and installed.well one day the company turned the power on and he got well done extra crispy style.
infact they served him at kfc for awhile. true story. |
It's popular around here too. Damn Meth heads steal anything metal really, Road signs, road barriers, parts of buildings to get some cash for Meth.
