Someone talk sense into me.
OK, I've got a huge hard-on for the Ultima GTR, I want to build one badly!!! This would mean selling the Miata as the Ultima isn't cheap, figure 65K in parts total. Someone tell me I'm out of my mind, please!

That makes sense to me :|
I think you could also just go for moar boost. If you do commit I will buy your 6 speed and 3.6 rear :) |
do it.
lets see, a shitty old miata or a Ultima....hmmmm |
The Ultima GTR is also my first choice when I hit the lotto. sure its only $65k, but what about brakes, tires, and insurance?
|
You're in the wrong forum if you expect us to tell you not to do it. Maybe try an investment forum?
Do it. We want your parts. And pics of the build. |

Do it. We want your parts. And pics of the build. What did you do this weekend? irresponsible car guy: battled xyz on the racetrack for a few hours, got crunk investment guy: i watched my assets grow by .7% |
if I had a million in assets and made .7% in a weekend, I'd say it was a pretty good weekend. It's always nice to have 7 extra Gs.

By all means go for it.
I just bought a motorcycle this week. Knew I wanted it, went for it. Fuggit. It meant selling the turbo part of the Miata, but oh well. I can build another one someday. |
In for built thread. :giggle:
DO IT!!!!!!! |

Well that's the quandary. I feel like that money should be used to, oh I don't know, purchase some investment property or something a little more responsible. fuk
Most of the constituent parts you would use to build this car can probably be found cheaper now than when you get back around to the idea in 5yrs. That means you can invest the money you saved going fast now, not to mention your better state of mental and emotional health from the gratification of building something FAST in your own garage, and enjoying it. |
I'd also like to do an Ultima one day, once I have a suitable place to build one. Been one of my many dreams for years. Might take me years to complete, and most of my extra income, but having something like a build LS1 powered GTR would be the bomb!
I say do it!!! |
Have you ridden in or driven one yet? What's the resale market for them like? For that kind of money you could buy a hell of a nice Noble with a known aftermarket.
|
Thymer how much power are you making now and at what psi? I remember seeing your dyno graph somewhere but i forget...

Consider the Ultima an investment in your future happiness. Also consider the double digit poonany return factor (assuming you are not married).

You know, I haven't ridden in one yet. Not too many around. resale? I did some searches but their aren't many for sale either, at least on this side of the pond. I like the Noble but it doesn't scream "fuck my gas tank filler" like the GTR does to me.
