Amazing build thread: s/c'ed Renesis -> NC
#11
Looks like the stock snorkel outta an rx8, i'm guessing the NC is the same.
Thats a cool build, though I doubt I would have gone with the S/C OR used the RX-8 transmission.
edit: oops just saw Doppelgänger said the same thing :(
edit 2: eeeee I just saw he is using the Blitz S/Cer. Supposedly its the biggest piece of **** ever.

Really? I do that kind of **** day in and day out. It's not really that difficult (says the guy who has been doing it for 25+ years). Modern CAD packages do some amazing stuff these days. That basic Locost frame he posted would have been only a few hours work, less if he was really cranking on it. The sheet metal package is great: you draw the part in 3D, and then the computer folds it all out flat, calculating how much to allow for bends, and you send the flat pattern to be laser or waterjet cut. Anytime you need a hole, you select the type (tapped, clearance, etc.) and the location, and it zaps it in for you. A hell of a lot easier and faster than even just a few years ago.
I'd be willing to bet it took longer to take measurements than do draw the parts themselves.
