He had had to work overtime today, but he said he'd give me a chance to drive it next week as he may be off tomorrow. I can't wait...

bryantaylor 08-21-2008 07:04 PM

that car actually doesn't look too bad in black.

:bsflag:
No drive out tag

I know your buddy didn't pay 100k+ for a car and drives it around w/o a tag.
He's got some 'splainin to do.

RotorNutFD3S 08-21-2008 07:12 PM

Good eye Ben, I said the same thing. He has the temp county tag for a custom plate though. He said he went from the dealership, to the tag office, then to work, and because that made him late, he didn't put it on.

/BS :)

Ben 08-21-2008 07:17 PM

The selling dealer is required by law to put a drive out tag on the car before it leaves.

RotorNutFD3S 08-21-2008 07:31 PM

I know that, I worked at Honda, and I also know how many cars left our lot without tags on them all the time. It's nothing out of the ordinary there, and probably the same case at Regal and many other dealerships.
I'll snap the next picture or video and make sure the temp or actual plate is in there for proof. :)

you don't need a plate for a GTR.

icantthink4155 08-21-2008 10:49 PM

I read an article saying these are 100% unmodable because some shit nissan did to them if you change anything it shuts down everything or some crap.

Nitroracer 08-22-2008 01:13 AM

Not the best looking car from the front but, as an overall performer its BAMF.

ApexOnYou 08-22-2008 01:37 AM

Aren't those selling for 30k over sticker? Not for me, but nice to look at.

18psi 08-22-2008 01:59 AM

overpriced to shit right now, and even though its hard to modify i wouldnt say impossible. just have to get around the computer. im not completely crazy about them, but i must say black looks much better than all the other colors ive seen so far on them

elesjuan 08-22-2008 06:38 AM

You can't polish a turd..

hustler 08-22-2008 09:47 AM

.5 house > gtr

m2cupcar 08-22-2008 10:23 AM

yeah, the styling doesn't do it for me- it's borderline ricer civic body kit approach to styling IMO. The stuff looks added on, afterthought. It's like the Mitsu Conquest for 2010

Machismo 08-22-2008 10:29 AM

Tell him to keep the badass NSX fun car, cuz' the new NSX looks about like the GTR.
Does look good in black though.

messiahx 08-22-2008 10:32 AM

One of my good friends got a ride in a GT-R last week (some guy in Green Bay owns one) and was very impressed with it. Said it didn't even feel like a turbo car and had very good ride quality/low wind noise and just kept pulling. Then again, he's a Nissan fanboy like no other, so maybe it wasn't all that.

Doppelgänger 08-22-2008 11:25 AM

ugly as shit.

And Ben, if you have already registered the car, you don't need a tag on the back. When i ordered my custom tag, i rode around with no tag for awhile. I did get pulled over once and the cop said it was perfectly fine for me to not have the PAPER temp tag on the back of the car...he didn't even want to see it. Once he saw my reg. was current he sent me on my way. Later I did put my old/expired tag on the car just to reduce the potential harassment.

Miatamaniac92 08-22-2008 06:11 PM

I like it in black.

But paying >MSRP FTL.

I look forward to maybe owning a used one in a few years.

Chris

Don't kill me, but I like it!

zoom2zoom 08-22-2008 06:34 PM

Looks like a new Eclipse and a 350z tried to make a baby and this is the end result!! FWIW, I saw a v8 SHO with a GT R badge yesterday, ha ha ha!!

Same here! I have a 3br/1.5 bath with a 6 car driveway (:giggle:) and a good size back yard, finished basement. Paid 74k.

Rafa 08-27-2008 10:13 PM

I thought I should post a link of the first local GTR. According to the site there are 3 more on the way over: http://www.razine.com/modules.php?na...r=asc&start=15

kotomile 08-28-2008 12:28 AM

I hadn't seen any before the weekend before last, then saw two in the same day...

That would cost MIN. 200k where I live.

edit: and thats in the ghetto

cueball1 08-28-2008 01:48 PM

The worst thing about the GTr's is what the mags are all geeked up about them for. They are simply the easiest car to drive ridiculously fast ever built. AWD and electronically controlled everything. Any A-hole with a bunch of money and 0 driving ability is going to be able to take it to the track and whoop ass.

I hate the car for that alone. Fast cars should require some level of ability to drive.

I guess that's the bumblefuck middle america discount. Where I live that's probably around 1million.

cueball1 08-28-2008 02:01 PM

Yeah. Can't get anything liveable in a metro area anywhere near either coast for that kind of money.

MX_Eva 08-28-2008 04:17 PM

I like it. All manufacturers are making their fast cars easy to drive. Well...all non american brands anyway. Until you step out to TVR, but even they are trying to make more reasonable cars.

People want to buy a car they can take to work, and still do well on the track. It would be a bigger mistake for them not to follow the rest of the industry and make a car that you can't feel like a hero in one second and drive through the neighborhood without waking everyone up the next.

These cars just go. If you step on it there's no squatting, there's no exhaust roar, there's no lurch. Just go and gone. The V-spec should be interesting. I imagine they are going to aim for 7.18 around the nur- ring.

Rafa 08-28-2008 06:06 PM

The guy took his new car to the track last night. My mechanic told me he made 3 passes. 2 times 11.9 seconds and one 11.7 sec. time. Not bad for a stock car.
