So I will be back in the states late fall and since I live in NY, right in a lake effect snow band area, I need to get some storage for my car. I was on craigslist and found this..

Warehouse, Workshop,RV or Boat Storage

seems like a good deal, but I don't really know. I want a place where I can continue to work on it this winter since I have a ton of work to do.

Emailed the guy. The price includes power. Doubt they are heated, but I can get a nice space heater for when I'm working on the car in there.

Anyone know if this price is good? Should I try and get them to lower it a bit?

 

I'm assuming that's per month?

That's not bad for 450 sq/ft but if you get a buddy or two together you can rent something bigger if you split it evenly.

 

Be sure to check into HOW Much power is supplied. A single 110 v will only power a heater... once you get into a few power tools. or two little heaters. you will pop breakers, and who knows where the breaker is to reset..

Propane heater . or forced kero could work too but gotta vent, and property owner might not like open flame in his building. Watchout before you get kicked out for too much work. Storage buildings are usually insured for little, and not for Work projects.

Look around. warehouse space is widely available with the downturned econ. Everyone willing to rent a few sq feet.

Do your research on heating devices. Depending which you choose, you may have condensation/rust issues.

 

Damn, you can rent an apartment for that here.

 

I am currently renting a setup like that with a friend of mine. It's working out pretty well. Ours has 220v in it, which is nice, but it is the only garage out of the place that has 220. We pay 300/mo for a 2-bay garage. Not sure how many sq feet but we have 2 firebirds, a miata, an rx-7, a fridge, a 3 wheeler, 4 toolboxes and 4 "Gorilla" shelves and plenty of room to work.

 

I'll definitely check the power to make sure it can handle what I need it for. Ideally I'd like to run a small compressor, a power tool or two, fridge, a few small appliances, a heater, and any extra lighting I may need.

I'm still looking around a bit, space should be cheap in this area since I'm kinda in the middle of nowhere.
