Default RIP Tripod 3/19/08

My cat Tripod had to be put to sleep today. She had Intestinal Lymphoma which is a common form of cancer in cats. She had a general checkup just 6 months ago and she checked out perfectly healthy.

It was scary how fast it happened. She has been fine but yesterday she was vomiting and couldn't walk or stand up. I took her to a vet and they noticed the growth. I had to take her to an oncologist today. There wasn't much we could do. Chemotherapy and surgery were options, but she was so bad she could have died while she waited for a surgery room to open. The growth she had was the size of a softball. The vet said cats are very good at hiding symptoms, which is why nothing seemed wrong.

Since there are so many cat owners here I just wanted to remind everyone to have them checked out on a regular basis. Hopefully luck will be on everyones side.

I lost a great friend today.

RIP Tripod

Awww. That's sad. Sorry to hear that. I bet they charged you big bucks just to tell you your cat is dying too, that makes it even worse.

I thought I was done with animals. Then my g/f got her first cat. Now I miss it when it's gone. WTF is wrong with me.
Sorry to hear that. Sassy just got spayed today.

I was really attatched to her. She was the coolest cat I have ever had. I could do anything to her and she wouldn't care.

When she was on the floor I loved rolling her over on her back and watching as she just laid there waiting for me to rub her belly. Every morning she was sitting on our front table to say good bye, and every day at 4 when I came home she was sitting there waiting. She honestly was a dog in a cats body.

Thanks for your support.

If there was any good to make of the situation is you can always adopt another kitty from the local shelter

My cat "Trampy", was diagnosed with a liver and blood disorder two(2) years ago (might have one week to live). The "DOCTOR" suggested (euthanasia), the "Death Shot". I took her back home and THANK GOD I didn't do it. She is still alive today.
I Love all my little kitties!!!!!!

:( - Sorry to hear about yours!

Thats good to hear LOLA. Thats what I was afraid of, but I had the doctor run as many tests as he could. The next stage of testing was $2,500 and could cause complications.

I would love to adopt another cat, Tripod was adopted as are all my animals, but I'm not in the position to right now. I will be moving away from home (out of state) soon, and I have another cat. I know she won't want a new cat moving in. It will also take a while emotionally before I'm ready.

Once I get set up at my own house my g/f will want a dog. It's safe to say we will head to the shelter to pick one up. I do love animals, I just hate seeing them go.

That sucks. While it's best for them, it's one of the hardest decisions you'll ever have to make. About 2 years ago, I had to make that same choice. Same disease. My cat, Killa, was over 18 years old. Other than family, it was the longest I've ever known anyone. He, too had those "dog traits".

Give yourself some time to grieve (and get a new place), then go adopt another one from a shelter. They can't replace Tripod, but you'll soon discover that each one has their own unique personality. I got a pair of kittens last year for my birthday, and I've never regretted it.

I'm sorry. There is no more true and real love than what pets give, and you did the right thing by taking the pain away. The best thing you can do is adopt another kitty, and give it a home.

btw, I have no shame in crying every single ******* time I go to the "adopt a pet" places.
