Such a bad day

Well I got my car impounded for "racing" on a canyon. My bad luck mainly, wasn't socal jdm driftoing, but hauling some ass after a wrx, staying in my lane pretty much, but still too fast in the cop's eyes. I doubled back up this road and there was a CHP waiting at the top.

I am super super pissed off. This sucks a lot. Really, I will probably have my licence suspended for a while(quite a long while), and don't get the car for 30 days.

This sucks so much, my life as I know it is over for now.:crx:

cjernigan 02-16-2008 02:36 AM

Ever get that shock fixed?

thesnowboarder 02-16-2008 02:49 AM

Wow, thats a bummer. I once had a friend have his car impounded for 30 days. It would have cost him like 3k bucks to get his 1k dollar 89 nissan s12 out. He opted to just let the police take it and he later ran into the future owner who said they bought it for 600 bucks for an auction.

As for the OP im sorry to hear that. Hope it somehow works out for you.

miataz 02-16-2008 08:59 AM

You think you got it bad, they passed a law now that 10km over is 500 dollar ticket or some shit like that and it keeps going up and up and if your caught going 50km over you get a 10,000$ fine and car impounded i believe. If its racing they smash your car in front of your eyes. And i heard them talking about some stupid law if you have racing modifications on your car ex loud exhaust ect...that they can impound your car i dont think its going to pass though, Canada has some gay ass laws...

Get a good lawyer and make it go away. Best money you can spend is on a lawyer with enough juice to make it disappear. I believe that you can get your car back more quickly since you haven't been convicted I bet that would constitute some form of violation of due process.

An aftershock from last night's news about 7 killed at a street race?
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/02/16/dra....ap/index.html

that's what LA street racers get sometimes:

magnamx-5 02-16-2008 11:49 AM

Those people where killed by a random fuck in a sedan not streetracers.

driving a cadilac sedan, at night, with no headlight... at a high enough rate of speed to catch up to those racing. I'm willing to bet he was drunk as hell, but they won't crack down on drunk driving.... street racing is WAY more dangerous :jerkit:

The police better not read his web page:

My last miata met an unpleasant fate, colliding with a telephone pole and flying off of a cliff on a windy canyon road due to a large mid corner bump and damaged suspension.
and this

but hey, I outran an evo on a canyon the other day, so I'm happy.

magnamx-5 02-16-2008 12:09 PM

The cops can't do shit if you work within the system, with a lawyer etc.

patsmx5 02-16-2008 12:10 PM

Wow, that has got to suck.

omg, he just showed everyone he won the street race, he was faster than the other two cars racing :D the underdog sedan won

Fireindc 02-16-2008 02:13 PM

Thats weird, all the cars they crushed were hondas.

That fucking blows, they should at least be smart enough to part out those cars for some extra govt funds.

miataz 02-16-2008 09:07 PM

fuck airport road, i know where that is thats where my buddies shop is automotive warehouse haha fuck thats a long stretch of road, rarely ever any cops out there, man that fucking sucks. The big white building in the back is the warehouse i believe.

hustler 02-16-2008 10:25 PM

my mother scored a "contest of speed" ticket in her old toureag a couple years ago...at 60 years of age. "Street racing" laws are a fucking joke.

This is the only good advice you have received so far. Good luck.

Huh?! Are you in LA or in Canada. Because in the video above that's Greater Los Angeles

1stproject 02-17-2008 02:03 AM

Get a good lawyer

UrbanSoot 02-17-2008 04:54 AM

damn... so we wont be seeing you this tuesday??
sorry to hear about that shit man...

speedf50 02-17-2008 03:55 PM

Not this tuesday, and probably not for a good few months. Are you still headed out to the greddy thing next weekend? I might be able to get a ride with my friend out there.

And j man I edited the cardomain, happy?

messiahx 02-18-2008 02:01 AM

That really sucks. The way that streetracing is handled by the law is more often that not completely overboard. Here in WI, I'll get fined for drifting in a private parking lot or racing down a 4 lane highway (and rightfully so), but all too often the drunk drivers are let off. Yeah, all streetracers are definitely not all good drivers, but for better or for worse, at least we're aware of what's going on and can react, unlike a DUI. You can pick out the drunks around here just as easily as the guys racing. Who do you think gets pulled over?

Doppelgänger 02-18-2008 09:22 AM

more reasons CA sucks.....

Speaking of driving, i just got back from driving on The Dragon all weekend... and not a single LEO to be found :)

m2cupcar 02-18-2008 10:42 AM

It's a shame to take a risk like this when it's so easy to get your car on track- road course or strip. :hsugh:

I'd definitely go or a lawyer and accept the fact that you'll be working off his paycheck over the next few years. Better than getting all this on your record.

Awesome, hopefully i'll be there sometime this month. This time of year they're usually few and far between.

+1

I got a $200 disorderly conduct w/ a motor vehicle ticket for doing donuts in an empty, snow-covered parking lot. I know plenty of idiots that drive drunk and brag about close calls and never getting caught.

UrbanSoot 02-18-2008 11:58 AM

if my g/f cant go with me to greddy event ill have an empty seat :)
you will have to get a ride to hollywood very early in the morning though.

My ticket was for $172. Happened over winter break. The cop threatened to charge me with attempted manslaughter (or something like that, don't remember exactly) because I had a passenger on top of it.

Torkel 02-19-2008 06:34 AM

OP: Sorry to hear your trouble and of course the cops are over reacting. But you really should try to get your ass over to a safe race track instead. I mean, what IF you cause an insident one day. Could be hard to live with.

Speaking of fees and such: I got hit by a speed camera, doing 9km/h too much. It costed 15€. My Finacee got hit a few days later, doing 14km/h to much. That costed 25€. I love this country!

Zabac 02-19-2008 10:23 AM

It is those little bastard vans with cameras that they move around every twice per year. I fell so dumb going: Where have I seen that Van before... *FLASH*... ooh fuck.

The cops that stopped my doing 240km/h (I had a nice company car) on Autobahn, in a 130km/h zone just let me go when I told them I was Swedish. Too much paperwork ;)

This is Airport Road CALI, not the Airport Road in Mississauga, Ontario.

People have raced near airport road for years, but not on it. Street Racing is dead in Ontario, Canada since Toronto Street Racing. com closed down. Around that time everything just died off as enforcement got tougher around here and they crushed some Hondas.

And the homie in the video is a retard.

miataspeed1point6 02-19-2008 11:47 PM

When I went to Toronto to pick up my hardtop I saw those signs on the side of the freeway that stated the speed and how much the ticket was. I was really surprised at how expensive they were. People were still speeding though.

It was also kind of funny because the whole time I was there I think I saw 1 police car. Really nice freeway though.
