Suzuki Cappuccino
Seriously, has anyone actually driven or seen a Suzuki Cappuccino in person? It would be an understatement to say I have been lusting over these for years. I'm thinking maybe next summer I might try to import one. They are a turbo 3 banger, and I'd probably try to play around with the stock motor for a bit, but it seems to me like the car is just begging for a miata 4 turbo motor.

I think it would be totally awesome to have one of these. Such neat little cars. Id have to max out the turbo 3 first before an engine swap.
|
I saw a few when I was in Japan. I only saw them in passing, didn't get to stop and look at them closely.
I want one of these so badly. There's a guy in Canada that imports Kei cars and he has one every once in a blue moon. |
Another person that loves these things. They are just so damn good looking, only ever seen them online though.
|
Yea I've been drooling over these for a long time. I think there was one in Initial D or something way back in the day.
|
I live on the West Coast of Canada, so most of the Japanese importers are located out here. A friend of mine imported a Celica himself from Japan and saved thousands over what the importers were charging. I'm slowly saving up a fund and by next summer should have enough to go for it. People bring in all kinds of RHD vehicles here - delicas, gtrs, supras, rx7s, crap even RHD miata's and civic hatches, but I've yet to see a Cappuccino on the road.

I'm curious- what's involved in importing a whole vehicle into Canada? In the US it can be a bit tricky, and in California, forget about it.

To be more specific: DOT Tires, DOT Lights, Daytime running lights. Insured. |

But yes, I fucking love me some Cap. If I had one, it would HAVE to be flared like that one. Regularly, they just don't quite look right to me. But with the flares it all comes together. |

NO NO NO! If it's begging for any 4 banger, it's a Suzuki engine, I dunno... say one that is roughly 1300cc..... The BP weight would kill that tiny car (even tiny by our standards, crazy!).

I bet a mild boost upgrade would be plenty. There's a local guy to me who will import you one as a track car, but he would take forever to get anything other than his usual Daihatsu micro trucks. I think I'd rather have a Honda Beat than a Cappuccino, though.
|
I think trying to make power with the 3 cylinder would be fun. I'm sure there are parts for them, though they may all be in Japan, so MAD TYTE RICE TAX applied to all parts. Who knows, maybe those internals are solid and you can upgrade the turbo and bolt-ons and crank up the boost and make it into the low or mid 100's range.
|
I was always partial to the Honda Beat myself. I got to testdrive a stock, ragged out example while I lived in Ireland so it wasn't that impressive.

Tasty. I've seen a couple popup on eBay from Canada from the aforementioned importer.
|
Fantastic Little cars. During a few trips to japan, I saw several of these driving around, and those pictures just don't do them justice.
Those things are TINY. I would think that it could be much harder to import those cars because they wouldn't pass the crash test ratings for American standards. Probably why most "K-cars" are not being imported to America, but why the smart car is being sold here is beyond me. |
I knew they were tiny, but it didn't really hit home until I saw this:

I would sell drugs to an undercover cop for one of those! Can't fucking believe I'm about to say this.. *IF* you import one don't swap in a miata motor. Turbo F series honda engine would be PERFECT in that car with the proper ring/pinion gear to keep low end torque to a minimum.. |
Pulled the inside wheel at 20 seconds! :) |

Build it like a brick shithouse and run 40lbs of boost. How much race fuel could it possibly consume? I've wanted one for years.

There is a shop that mods them near where I used to play basketball. I can barely fit a miata, don't want to think about one of those.
|
I have seen a few of them in person and spoke to a guy who owned one at one of the goodwood breakfast club meets a few months ago. Sat in his and it is so ridiculously small in the flesh. Its about the size of an old bug eyed sprite. They look very bad ass when kitted up, but it honestly makes a miata seem a bit lardy. Its just a step to far if you are even close to 6 foot tall.
|
sounds like a car fit for 5'8" kinda guy,but it just to bad I'll have to wait till at least 2016 to import one of these badass micro machines....
|
In for a group import. Every car game I've had that had these I've gone nuts on them. I always drool. Why do we never get the cool cars in the states?

A skyline, miata, and a cappuccino (for size comparison).

^ this....
now that's a decision i'd be happy to make everyday. smart car< cappuccino...... besides it makes sense the crash dummy is a distant relative of this guy http://s3.amazonaws.com/kym-assets/p...41/OkayGuy.jpg |
I've always liked them too. Always the car I picked for kei car races on forza/gt.

I literally joined this forum just to post here. Of course I'm a Miata driver with a 94 base that I've generally beat to hell. But I'm seriously obsessed with this little roadster. It keeps coming back to haunt me lol. But as for the powerplant? I think that tiny engine bay and ultralight weight figures are begging for one thing: a rotary! :) How sick would that be? A turbo rotary from an RX-&? Oh yeah. I had the idea a few years back and looked around to see if anyone tried it, but it seems only this guy had the same idea, and I'm thoroughly unimpressed by the setup and the video, and you can't even get to see it drive. BUT... Look at the little guy in there! It looks like it was MADE for this car!
|
At 6'02",i would never be able to comfortably drive that car. But,I would do it anyway. That car is the hotness
