T-Rex
If ever there was a time when I wished my cell phone had one of those fancy picture-taking things built in...
I'm in Dallas right now doing an install at KRLD-FM. For lunch, I went across the street to Quiznos. Behind the restaurant, parked in the lot of the Best Western hotel, was a 3-axle trailer with Quebec registration bearing Campagna Motors livery, and parked in front of that were two T-rexes! Campagna- Fun, Style, Performance I've seen these online before, but never in person. I always thought they were kind of ugly, but to behold one in the flesh it's just pure sex. Lingered for a while, tried to find someone who was with the company (I really wanted to sit in it) but couldn't find a soul. So I sat in it anyway. A bit on the cozy side (I'm 6'2" and about 210 lbs) but definitely manageable. Like the Miata, it's not so much a car you get into as one that you wear, though the Miata is a comfortable old hiking boot next to this ballet slipper. Only trouble is that they're only available pre-built, and they start at US$52,000. Still, if any of you locals want to catch a glimpse, the hotel is across the street from 4131 N Central Expy. I doubt they'll be there long, as I expect the trailer is headed over to the International Motorcycle Show. |
I drove one through midtown atlanta several years back, thought it was a lot of fun.

They are always available for rental back home in Panama City Beach around spring break.
Unfortunately most of their lives are spent doing <10mph down the strip. |
One shows up at the local cruise night all the time.
Can't say anything about it interests me. Fun little looking design... but useless for most things besides cruising to meets. |

In SD / OC, that'd be a killer daily driver. |
My friend has one and it's a LOT of fun to drive. Definitely gets looks too. If I'm on my Gsxr and he's in that, everyone's head turns.

Damn, this is really dredging up some old passions...
There's no way I'm paying $52k for a T-rex. And there's no way I'm building a Grinnall with a fucking shaft-drive BMW engine... The scorpion P13 looks nice, but again, too damn pricey. How is it that Westfield can churn out SEis for $14k, while to get one fewer wheel you gotta pay triple? |
