Taking my neighbors money for being a dick
This old guy came to my house the other day and he wants me to replace the oxygen sensor on his protege. He said that he sees me working on my car and shit and the dealer wants too much money. He comes back with an attitude just now like, why havent you fixed my shit :vash:. He starts bitching at me at my own house and I never agreed to anything.
I'm about to fix this fools car and take his money. Cost of parts plus $40 in labor. I might put the scanner on his car and up the price. :hustler: :giggle: |
If you're doing him a favor and he's being an ass, screw him. You don't have to do anything. And $40 is a steal for him.
|
Tear his car all apart and start saying all sorts of shit needs to be replaced and you need more money
|
You will be sorry if you do ANYTHING for him.

Every time I've done a favor for someone on their car, I usually end up saying to myself that I shouldn't have done this. You do a quick O2 sensor in 5 mins and think you made out, then next week he pulls up saying that now his car runs like shit and that YOU BROKE IT! :vash: I would say sorry, but you aren't a mechanic shop, and he's not friend/family. |

Expose your genitals to him next time he talks to you. Be a man.

If you touch his car once, then you have a set a precedent. He will keep coming back, and he's not likely to stop being a cheapskate or a dick. |

Yeah f that guy. If you work on his car and something stupid goes wrong, he'll be all sue happy. Trust me I dealt with it more than a few times. Just tell him that you don't have the proper tools to remove the kind of sensor on his car, and that's why the dealer wants what they want. Say your sorry, but you can't help him.

a flat tire will be your fault dont touch it

Awesome advice. I agree with all of you. My dad said the same thing. If hes already acting weird then he might try to screw me later. Thanks.

"You touched my car and now it runs funny. Just funny. And it overheats. And it smells like gas when I fuel up. And the brakes have a strange pulsation. And there's a chip in the windshield. And..."

Its def worthy to be wary if the guy is acting weird before you even start or agree to anything.
I would stay away, However. I do work on some peoples cars on my own time and my own schedule. I be sure with anyone i work with that i explain to them that I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL., i am not insured I am not liscenced. I am doing this as a favor to you. And if you have any problems and want to blame me. I dont know who you are. Cash always. If its a big job Half up front. and sometimes Ill even type out a Disclaimer... Date and sign by both parties. I really don't know how much presence this would have if something happened to someones car like in court, but it honestly shows someone that you are being honest and upfront directly between you and them. As soon as they see you want them to sign something. its like a contract, and they might think twice about letting you work on their car. If you keep it totally business like, and make him pay for everything. it will keep the expectations of free help on other car stuff out there... Be sure to talk your labor costs FIRST before you touch the car. Tread lightly. but if he is already acting wierd. Stay AWAY. Goodluck |
^ Thanks.
I haven't seen the guy yet. I hope he just stays away because I'm not trying to help a stranger and my car needs my attention during spring break. |
