It would have been mulched through one of the four turbos.

UrbanSoot 11-12-2009 05:48 PM

dum dum dum... another one bites the dust!

Gotpsi? 11-12-2009 06:09 PM

Yeah, although the air intakes are up top, and the high displacement probably pushes enough out the exhaust to keep water from coming in.

Ideally you WOULD want to leave it running to keep from cracking the block or turbine housings. Letting it run in the waters *might prevent this...but I'm sure it died due to electrical problems.

He might be a dumbass...but I heard he's a brain surgeon. My grandpa always said wealth is not what you can buy, but what you can take care of.

NA6C-Guy 11-12-2009 06:20 PM

I think high end car companies should require a test before you purchase a car. Of course they don't care as long as they make money, but I hate seeing a dumbass with more money than they know what to do with buy a car like this and run it off the road. Perfectly good Veyron now ruined. I'd imagine its totaled now with engine damage and water damage. What would an insurance company do with something like that totaled? Surely not just destroy it.

Saltwater lagoon. Ouch... That is some brackish water right there. I like how the tow truck driver washes off his hands before he reaches in through the window to grab the steering wheel. You know, to prevent any further damage.

curly 11-12-2009 06:24 PM

How is that totaled? I don't see any major body damage, and you really think they couldn't replace the entire drive train and damaged electrical components for less than $1,250,000?

:dunno: Never had to replace drive train and electronic components on my Veyron, I keep mine on the road...

I would imagine in the process of leaving the road and ending up in the lagoon, some body damage occurred. I just can't imagine a shop of any kind "fixing" something like a Veyron, body or drive train. I'd like to see the bill on a new engine for that thing.

+1

I would have thought that ESPECIALLY since they lose roughly the car's price on each sell they would have done something similar to Ferrari's supercar qualification.

If it was made as an engineering exercise, and they lose their asses on each one built, they would HAVE to want to keep them all on the road. This should mean no rich, inattentive asshole braindocs, and more enthusiasts that actually zing it to redline occasionally but know how to keep it on the road...and take it to the track for what it was made for.

Gotpsi? 11-12-2009 09:14 PM

When you could buy the Maclearan F1 the didnt just sell it to anyone, you had to at least interview for them to consider you as a buyer.

cueball1 11-13-2009 02:27 PM

Dodged a pelican?!? A parked semi, a horse or a pile of concrete blocks I can see but a lousy bird? Hell, even a deer you plow through it vs. a water landing.

How would you like knowing your brain surgeon doesn't have the presence of mind to not panic and crash a Veyron over a bird. Oooh, that blood vessel's ruptured, what do I do?!? Nurse, decapitate the patient immediately! Do it NOW!

Gotpsi? 11-13-2009 03:48 PM

The article says distracted by a pelican not dodged a pelican.

buffon01 11-13-2009 03:59 PM

Hmm doesnt Ferrari have a policy where once you damage a car, you get put on a black list and will not be sold another one form factory.

What a tard?? Most of will give a nut for this car, this asshole just drives into a lake... :crx:

Hadn't read the article till now. Pelican schmelican. Everyone missed the real story.

About 3 p.m. a low-flying pelican distracted him as he traveled north on Interstate 45 just south of the hurricane levee near Omega Bay.

The man jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone, and the car’s front tire left the frontage road and entered a muddy patch, which foiled his attempt to maneuver away from the lagoon.
He was on the god damned cell phone.:vash: I don't think there was friggin bird. I think that was a cover story to make him sound like less of a douchebag. :loser:

NA6C-Guy 11-13-2009 05:51 PM

No offense to anyone who talks on the cell phone while driving, but what the fuck are you talking about that is so damn important that it can't wait till you get to your destination. 80% of the people I see driving like shit are on the phone yapping their big fucking mouth about something, probably about nothing really. Get off the phone and drive. This guy should be banned from ever owning a car again in his life. Talk on the cell phone while driving your super car that is worth 10x what my house is worth.

DROPPED the cell phone. He wasn't even using bluetooth. Cell phones are just as bad as driving drunk statistics wise. Screw him and the million two horse he rode in on!
