Dam, that really sucks, sorry to hear.

That makes me think that I am going to bolt mine in like the SPEC Miatas.

Damn man, that sucks. Good luck finding the hardtop and destroying the ******. I'm guessing it was a side window? I've got some out of my car that I have no need for. Let me know what side and I'll send to you one for what it costs to ship it.

thanks but I already have a window sitting at the tint shop. Its really hard to find hardtops apparently. Hopefully insurance doesn't total my car.

That sucks man.

Reminds me of Pulp Fiction where Vincent Vega says "It'd be worth them doing it, just to catch them doing it" talking about his car that got vandalized.

Get a 55 gallon oil drum. After the guy is dead, chop him up and put him in there. Use lime to dissolve the parts/bones. After 6 months or so, dump the barrel somewhere out of town.

That way they don't think it is you and may try to flip it for a quick buck.
Great Idea!

This is what I would be worried about as well. Be careful Hustler.

As for totaling the car, mine recently had $2k worth of damage done to it and it wasn't totaled, I wouldn't stress over that as much as the above happening.

Be safe.

Hussman, i'd be wary if you see any spray painted tops too..esp a flat black one. You know someone might actually be smart enough to at least cover up the original color. If you find any for sale that are spray painted, take some 3M Adhesive remove with you and a rag and if you suspect it's yours, wipe the spray paint off a small area...the 3M stuff eats spray paint, but won't harm a good cleat coated automotive paint...ask me how I know.

My insurance just gave me 1795.00 to replace mine (since it wasn't on the car) and will reimburse up to 1990.00 for one. I cited a couple places that sold new ones for around that- I think one was gomiata.

I've always considered the hardtop as an easy theft target- though I never did anything about it. I will make it a priority on the new car. Need to think of some unique ways to mark it. May even make sense to create an agreed spot at this point, so if this happens in the future everybody would know where to look... ?
