Default Any Ford Tech's here?

I have my 04 Expedition at the stealer ship because of an a/c problem. What was happening is the a/c would randomly switch where it blows (i.e. floor, dash, defroster) Just got a call from them saying it's a vacuum hose up under the dash somewhere that's falling apart. They want $225 (2 hours labor, $20 for the hose) to replace it.

Anyone have any experience with this? Is this something I can do myself?

LMK thanks.

Pain in the ***? Certainly. Crawling up uder the dash is never much fun.

Can you do it? Undoubtedly. After putting on a turbo, this should be easy. Save yourself a pile of cash.

I don't get half of you guys. I'm scared as hell to finish my turbo miata, but I'd walk to work before I'd even consider giving in so easy and letting a dealership look at any of my cars.

You can fix it. No doubt.

Well when it comes to a/c I know nothing nor do I have the tools to work with a/c. And I have an extended warranty on the truck. So Id rather try and get my money worth. Unfortunately it does not cover hoses. I've already decided to let them do it. Id only be saving $95 if I don't so f it.

But this is not your A/C, but instead the vacuum controlled door in the A/C ducting.

It's just a pain to get to, hence the hefty labor charge.

Sounds totally legit, The Blend door... for how hot or cold the air is is controlled electrially... the defrost, vent and floor is controlled vaccum....

The probelm is having to take the dash OUT... yes OUT. to get to the ac box etc... not much working around. when they build them assembly line process. they put the box in first then the dash on top.

Not impossible, but would be a task... exp if you dont know exactly what your looking for .. which hose, or junction.

It's a pain in the ***. Plus if (when) it starts rattling and squeaking, you can go back to THEM to fix it instead of doing it all again yourself. BTDT on my Exploder a couple of cars ago.
