Thinking about starting my own business?

As many of you all know I had a rough welcoming, due to people thinking i were acting as 2 users.

Lets get to the point Ive been lurking on miataturbo.net for sometime now and just recently registered.
What i was thinking was to start a small business on this site polishing parts.

How many people would be interested in me polishing parts?
ive been polishing for about 2-3 years now, you can check out my small site
freewebs.com.polishing

-Thanks
Justin

I think you need to look at another proffesion and only do this in your spare time...it is not worth it...I think turbotim already summed it up for you in another thread...
but good luck if you do it, people here dont really care much about that kinda stuff...

boostinboy 05-02-2008 04:51 PM

I only do it in my spare time.

mrtonyg 05-02-2008 05:20 PM

Yea...I got something for your to polish...right here 'a

Sorry man, couldn't resist!

boostinboy 05-02-2008 05:23 PM

Do you want something polished?

y8s 05-02-2008 05:38 PM

looks like you already started a business on your own site. why not just offer that up? not sure what you stand to gain by connecting it with this site... :dunno:

Its not a pickle

this may not be the best forum to advertise your venture. Maybe establish yourself more on motorcycle websites. Don't get me wrong i do appreciate all the time and effort that goes into polishing as i've done a few things. I've got a spare valve cover i wanted to polish and i didn't get very far before i realized it would take me like 20 hours. the other problem is that this forum doesn't really like people coming in here and immediately try to sell something. good luck, maybe post some prices.

boostinboy 05-02-2008 06:31 PM

What I charge:
Also, discounts are available if you have extra parts lying around that you are willing to trade(pay me with them insted or money). That I would be intersted in.

A friend of mine did that, stuff actually turned out really well. Only a few color choices though, but still.

Braineack 05-02-2008 09:04 PM

you can buy powder for cheap, the diy tools are cheap too. I'd do it if I had a spare oven in my garage.

TonyV 05-02-2008 09:34 PM

How much for a polished knob??

boostinboy 05-02-2008 09:39 PM

I'm intrested i learning how to power coat!
What type of oven would i need?

18psi 05-02-2008 09:47 PM

dude if you do this full time your "business" will go to shit real quick...there is not enough demand for stuff to be polished especially on car forums and turbo car forums at taht.....like op said: motorcycle forums would probably welcome that kinda business much better....in any case, good luck and best wishes

Talk to Rick about being a vendor on here and you can even advertise your website up top with the other banners. Its a cheap fee for the publicity. Then you can have an official "service for sale" thread and subforum for all your dealings.
