Does anybody know of any applications in a production car?
or is this old man just hot air?

edit:

exactly what I was thinking for this application. I guess he's the real deal.

seems cool depends on the money though. The fuel savings are going e interesting to see. Im seeing reduced friction but maybe not fuel savings to justify the cost.

That's awsome! That thing will have potential in the future, especially if it's affordable.

Arkmage 10-30-2007 04:49 PM

Their main market will no doubt be military helicopters.

Braineack 10-30-2007 04:50 PM

They should make little tiny ones for desktop toys and keychains.

There may be interesting implications there for helicopters.
Yeah, right now they used a direct drive and a swash plate to control the pitch angle of the blades (and thus amount and direction of lift).

Perhaps this joint would allow the pilot to tilt the entire rotor shaft, instead of reducing lift on the inside, to roll the aircraft. Meaning the aircraft could turn faster, by being able to use the full lift available and changing the direction of lift, instead of reducing lift on the inside.

Neat.

<edit> and not just turn faster, but also could be much more manueverable in ways and at speeds not currently possible.

What better way to glorify the achievement of such a goal, than marketting...lol. Maybe they could build one, in a ship.
