Tire Mounting

I feel like Im getting raped. Took my 2 new Azenis to the local tire shop for mounting and balancing. Fucking 60 bucks including disposing of new tires. Fuck I tried a different local shop and waited 20 minutes for someone to show up who spoke English and no one ever showed up. And from the looks of the shop I wasnt to confident in their ability to put the tires on right side out and get good balance
What are you paying? Did I get fucked?

Braineack 02-08-2008 10:14 AM

I've never paid more than $40 for the full service. 7-10 a wheel; mounting, balancing, disposal, etc etc etc.

However, If you go to a random garage, expect $60 for 2 tires.

well ive used this guy before. But are you saying $ 40 for how many tires? Big shop? I figured the big guys like Pep Boys would charge more

Saml01 02-08-2008 10:23 AM

Cost me 8 bucks a tire for mounting and balancing. My dad paid 55 yesterday for his RX330, they said the tires were big and heavy thats why it was so expensive. Assholes.

I go to the barrio for tire mounting, pay $20 for all 4-tires yanked off with new ones on, all while I eat tacos and shit.

Braineack 02-08-2008 11:08 AM

walmart, costco, pepboys; typically charge 7-10 each tires mounting/balancing/disposal.

a random shop garage or gas station usually charge like 20-30 a wheel.

Efini~FC3S 02-08-2008 11:22 AM

I think I payed 50ish when I got my ra-1s mounted. That was for four wheels.

I go to a little shack here in San Diego by the name of ''Joel's Tire'' $20 to demount, let me take them, and paint em, and to remount and balance with new mega cool 5+ HP chrome valve stems :cjerk: (painted them black immediately after)

Whitey 02-08-2008 04:30 PM

$8 each! Are you sure they actually balanced those and didn't just stick the weights in random places.

Oscar 02-08-2008 05:07 PM

cheapest here is $20 each for just mounting

driftbandito 02-08-2008 06:03 PM

A couple of months ago I got my azenis mounted for $50 with the inside sticky weights, would have been $40 if they used the weight that sits on the lip. However, it is not uncommon for most shops around my area to charge around 20 to 25 to mount and balance only(disposale is extra). This includes pepboys, sts, etc.

miataspeed1point6 02-09-2008 12:49 AM

We charge based on the tire size and if it is a low profile or not. A low profile 24" wheel with sticky weights mounted and balanced is $100.

I would shop around, a place down the street from me will mount up a stock 16" or under for like $5.

kotomile 02-09-2008 02:14 AM

Jeesis I'd never pay more than 11-12 dollars/wheel (aspect ratios over 45). You got raped dude.

Plus, I know a lot of shops I worked for would charge more if you brought the tires in as opposed to buying them there.

cjernigan 02-09-2008 10:11 AM

I get my tires done at Sams Club. They're with walmart of pricing and always do me right. Plus the one here is hardly ever busy so they get it done right then and there, no waiting. It's around $10-12 a wheel.

Pitlab77 02-09-2008 12:18 PM

I go to a little shop around the corner "JR's tires" about 10 a tire.

although i've gone to NTB before and talked to the guy out back about special pricing there.
