There is a billboard on I-26 in the middle of South Carolina talking about May 21rst. I laughed when I passed it on the way back from the track.

I have been seeing this sign out off I10 in Louisianna for the past year or so talking about May 21, 2011. It will come and go and there will be a new date, just like always.

Seen a car like that around here. Surely people don't actually believe this superstitious bullshit.

my wife asked me last night if I had even a tiny smidgen of concern for the impending may 21 apocalypse.

I told her none whatsoever.

I'm sure May 21 will come and go without incident. And May 22 will begin with the excuses and claims of incorrect calculations just like in 1994 when there was no End of Days.

We have a billboard around here that's the same deal.

I thought it was 2012, not 2011. Either way I don't give a ****, I go when I go. lol

Think of how many doomsday prophecies have come and gone, even over the last 100 years. They all come and go, nothing noticeable.

The "big one" is at the end of 2012, but people have "discovered" that we will all be doomed earlier than that, a week and a half from now. Enjoy your last days on Earth.

What if we made up some BS judgement day 112 years into the future?? Claim it came out of some jewish scripture or something. "The Last Supper - March 14, 2124!!!!"

If we can get the rest of the world to buy in, people will stop making ridiculous claims for another 112 years....how can someone think the world will end sooner than that if everyone obviously *knows* the world ends in 2124?

Edit: What's the motivation for people to claim that the world is ending? Religious? Financial?

Well I guess I better pour a concrete shelter in the yard and start stocking up on food/water.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole 2012 deal about the sun "resetting" and melting all of us. The guy that talks about it is pretty damn convincing and had me worrying for a day or two about it.

You guys should be the biggest proponents of this and start selling shelters NOW! Only $19,995 and guaranteed to be installed THIS WEEK!

According to Camping, the number five equals "atonement", the number ten equals "completeness", and the number seventeen equals "heaven".
Christ is said to have hung on the cross on April 1, 33 AD. The time between April 1, 33 AD and April 1, 2011 is 1,978 years.
If 1,978 is multiplied by 365.2422 days (the number of days in a solar year, not to be confused with the lunar year), the result is 722,449.
The time between April 1 and May 21 is 51 days.
51 added to 722,449 is 722,500.
(5 x 10 x 17)^2 or (atonement x completeness x heaven)^2 also equals 722,500.
Thus, Camping concludes that 5 x 10 x 17 is telling us a "story from the time Christ made payment for our sins until we're completely saved

I thought here was possibly some direct reference to May 21st, but nope he just pulled it out of his ***. Reminds me of all the 9/11 conspearacies and the southpark espisode that followed with kyle being blammed for the attack by cartman. Good times.

Ohh I could totally go out and build a couple shelters a week. It would be a peice of cake. I would be able to tie a double or triple mat of rebar and could make the walls 1'-2' thick. Throw in a ratslab floor and cap that bitch off with a precast roof complete with hatch and vents.

I don't know how to advertise for that though. If I had someone interested in one I'd be all over it in a heartbeat!
