Can't buy radar detectors here in Virginia .
That being said, I had a V1 in my old Eclipse and loved it ..now I just drive ~5mph over the speed limit unless I'm on curvy back roads (which is where I spend the majority of my time) no cops ever run radar on those around here...knock on wood.

If you care about direction, V1
If you don't care about direction and prefer the same accuracy as the V1 but want to know individual signal strengths of multiple radar sources (my case), Escort 8500 or the new 9500
My 8500 is just as accurate is my friends V1, so its down to what features you prefer.
