Tough decision: Police or Not
Here's the nutshell:
Someone who lives here hit my girlfriends car in our apartment complex yesterday. According to the witness (the only way we knew) the individual got out, looked at it, then drove off. Now, a witness got the plates and saw it all happen and told us. Now here is the question: Do I call the cops, or track the individual down and demand his insurance? Finally, the last point. This individual followed behind us, in my girlfriends car, and then proceeded to park, walk past us and not say anything today. Fucking dick. |
COPs. It would be considered a hit an run wouldn't it? Burn his ass.
|
I'd have called the cops already.
There is nothing tough about this decision. Dick boy shows wanton disregard for your property in the course of felonious activity. I'd also inform the complex. |
Video him getting arrested, or w/e ends up happening.
|
Really? Do you really feel the need to wonder? My God people are getting stupid.....

I can understand brad's apprehensiveness on not wanting to feel like a snitch.
However this is completely warranted. Sounds like the offender has had more than ample opportunity to make things right. |

Hell, i found a door ding on my car and i tracked down who did it and made them pay. Sure it was only $115 worth of damage, but it was the fact that this person knew they dinged my car and tried to hide/not tell the owner [me] that they had done it. |
You should have immediately called the police and filed a report. That's a hit and run.
|
I wouldn't fear calling the cops.
Problem is they wouldn't do anything, not around these parts anyway. Unless someone is injured and bleeding, they don't give two fucks about a smashed car. They seem quick to issue tickets for no front plate or poaching the carpool lane, though. Not at all talking smack about cops, btw, just identifying their priorities... |
Living in the same apartment as someone you called the cops on can be awkward. I'd talk to them first. If he's a dick about it then call the cops. That's just me, I get more cautious the older I get. :)
|
Call the cops and file a report for sure. You saw the guy and didn't say anything? :eek5: Maybe I have too bad of a temper but I definitely wouldn't have been able to not say anything, let alone try to keep from getting angry. :vash:
However.....seeing it is your GF's car, you should let her do it. The guy and the cops will give much more of a fuck if the complaint is from a female. And I agree with Jay that it could make things awkward, but fuck.....cant just let the guy get away with it. When my neighbors drive by my house 20mph too fast and I'm outside washing the car, I fucking spray their windshield and yell "slow down fuck", and I have yet to feel awkward. :bowrofl: Vash- |
I call BS on anybody who doesn't take responsibility for their actions. I don't see the point of approaching him when he's already had the opportunity to approach you. BUT know this, you don't have shit w/o the witness willing to talk to the cop.
|
Yeah, that guy has burned all his chances when he prended like it was raining. Shit happends and it can happend to anybody. The difference between us is how you react when something happends. His reaction is clear and noted. Check carefully with the witness that he/she is ready for it. Then call the cops on his ass.
|
Called the cops... had the cops go talk to him and attempt to get the insurance info. He straight told the cops that the car is a rental (lie) and that he didn't hit her car (lie). Looks like it will go to court then, as the witness is willing to comply.
|
you need to PWN his ass with every law there is. a hit and run is a major thing, I know many idiots around here that went straight to jail for that shit, no questions asked.
|
Let him burn.
|
now go light his car on fire.
