Default Finally bought a new ride... thanks for all the input!

After a couple threads and much input, I took the advice of somebody whoe sent me a PM and did thorough research into 4Runners. I never would have considered them before, but after a few weeks, I was sold and it was a waiting game until the one I wanted popped up locally.

Ideally, I would have like a 2000-2002 Limited, but I also had the problem of needing to trade in my Dodge... and no branded dealership has vehicles that old on their lots... so I stepped up my window to an '05-'06, which meant to stay within budget, I was going to end up in an SR5 model.

It's an '05 SR5 2WD V6 w/80k. I paid exactly what I thought I should being a Toyota CPO vehicle from a Toyota dealership. $18k might seem like a lot, but believe me, that's what they go for... and in the end, it was exactly what I wanted.

Currently researching the mod path... new radio from a Scion, Flowmaster 50series catback, TRD Intake, upgrading interior to leather, maybe some newer 17's with better rubber. Anyways, enjoy pics!

I think TRD makes a bolt-on blower for this one...

BBOOOOORRRRRIIINNNGGGG! What happened to the Forester XT? Sure would have been more fun. Looks like a good people carrier though. Congrats.

^Man, I wanted that Forester real bad!
But in the end, this vehicle needed to be my 100% reliable DD for the next 5-6yrs. The 4Runner ticked all the boxes, budget, ability, and is simply not worth modding for performance beyond the most basic bolt-ons, which eliminates a big temptation.

What really surprised me in all my shopping was the rear-seat room with respect to child seats. Just about everything I looked at (and I looked at EVERYTHING) between a Focus and an Excursion had a negligible difference in distance between the back of the drivers seat and the seat behind it. If you're talking about putting a kid back there, every single vehicle I looked at meant she was going to be kicking the back of my seat... nothing short of a full size Econoline Van or a Deville gave me any more room with the seat all the way back. So I threw that out of the equation and chose based on other factors.

Highlander, CX7, CX9, Outback, Forester, Explorer, Magnum, 5-Series Wagon, Volvo's... and more, I researched them all. The 4Runner was a clear choice.

What it needs now is floormats and a better stereo (every Scion OEM headunit is a direct PnP).

I installed a flowmaster 40 series catback on my 3.0L V6 ford ranger. It's very loud, I wouldn't recommend it for most people as the highway drone is very annoying. I'll never take my daily and make it less comfortable to drive long distances again.

Sweet, but to be brutally honest I don't understand the desire to mod the daily. I have a diesel truck that responds really, really well to a chip and a full exhaust, but I just don't have any desire to make it faster or louder. The only thing I've done is an update to prevent overheating and increase gas mileage.

How do you like that ranger? I've been driving my 04 WRX, but I feel like I should build that for RallyX and get a ranger for my daily.

I've modified my last 2 daily's and won't do it again. Stock isn't always ****.

Congrats on purchase, should be a great vehicle.
