Turbo Comparisons

Just for general interest, I figured that I'd post dyno charts of three turbos for comparison:

1) TD04-15G (GReddy turbo) on a 1.6 at 8-9psi
2) T3 Super 60 on a 1.6 at 9psi with boost control issues ;) (hence the dip in torque)
3) GT2554 on a 1.8 at 8psi with fuel issues at the time (again accounting for the dip in torque)

First graph is just HP showing very similar results.
Second graph shows torque.

Interesting how similar the GReddy and T3 super 60 really is (as already pointed out by braineack).

You can really see where the 0.2L of extra displacement + smaller turbo really helps that GT2554 spool and create lots of torque early on.

Funny how we all have little snafus right around 4k rpm.

Without that dip they all would have been about the same in HP

I wonder how much of the bb center is reponsible for the immediate torque jump on the 2554. Is it that much smaller than a TD04? And I thought the T3s60 was bigger than the TD04? I wonder if that would show at higher boost levels.

dang...I like the tq on the 1.8 w/ the gt25...what would it do if the fuel was right? Just not dip?

Tom, post the same with my 12psi spiked run

As you requested...

Braineack 09-28-2006 02:06 PM

yeah, once it fully spools it takes off, I'm sure 15psi on that thing would make some great numbers.

The curve on the GT255 looks promising, I bet it's fun with all that low end.

Why don't you show us? ;)

Oh I will......just not yet.

Interesting but something is really wrong with that T3 at 9 PSI, it should be making a good deal more power. If you look at that spike, you can see the thing wants to shoot to the moon. On a stock 1.6 I was making roughly 235 RWHP at 12 PSI with the T3 intercooled and a Haltech.

I was using an EBC that didn't want to work right on the dyno, it kept spiking, dropping and then holding (I wasn't smart enough to throw the MBC back on real fast). I plan to be back on the dyno within two weeks.

That and I was making 170/145 at 6psi.
