meh, 8

SamS 04-25-2007 06:23 PM

11, some were lucky guesses

Ben 04-25-2007 06:23 PM

I got 12, but there were some lucky guesses in there.

akaryrye 04-25-2007 06:45 PM

I got an 8, but I think question 4 is kinda messed up there are ways that cooling oil could be used, maybe it isn't, but it could. Some tough questions there.

boostinsteve 04-25-2007 06:54 PM

I got a 9. Pretty surprising because some of those questions were educated guesses that could have went either way.

cjernigan 04-25-2007 06:55 PM

9 Maybe I should have read about garrett VNT first.

Strider 04-25-2007 07:03 PM

I got a 7, I knew the last one for sure though HEH.

MX_Eva 04-25-2007 07:45 PM

Eh got an 11? First question was complete guess..but got it right. Issue with temp. and pressure is a little skewed because the only use for heat is that it makes the air less dense and higher volume. and *shrug* on voting Labyrinth seals apposed to piston seals.

akaryrye 04-25-2007 07:47 PM

well wouldnt a higher egt spool up faster simply because it fills more volume? That would affect turbo performance.

MX_Eva 04-25-2007 07:50 PM

Yes yes it would...but on the same hand it has it's limits and you don't really sit down and design a turbo and decide to get more out of it by making it hotter. it's sort of a trick question that if you think about it too hard could go either way.

magnamx-5 04-25-2007 08:14 PM

yeah i dont know shit about garrets and i got an 8.

samnavy 04-25-2007 08:20 PM

11, with 2 lucky guesses.
I was enjoying it until #10 when I realized it was just a cleverly disguised ad. I guess it worked. Now I know what VNT stands for.

Have you ever seen a turbo with pistons?

-Mike

Fritch 04-25-2007 11:22 PM

sbrian2 04-25-2007 11:39 PM

Did you take the quiz? It says that piston ring seals are commonly used on the turbine side. :rly:

9. I got most except for a few of the variable vane and intercooler questions. once I go with an IC, I bet I'd get a better score...one more reason to intercool!

RusMan 04-26-2007 01:31 AM

Yes, I win, I'm the lowest so far... 5
