TVShack.net

Is no more  "Seized by US Customs" today. Not a big deal in the States but over here in Germany that's the only way I get most US shows and movies. :vash:

Discuss.

Are you familiar with (and able to access) BitTorrent streams from where you are?

I get 100% of my video content via this method. It's a P2P system in two parts. First, you need a search engine to find torrent files. For movies, I use thepiratebay.org, and for TV show (both Brit and American) I use EZTV.it.

From these sites, you will get a .torrent file, which is basically a pointer. You load that file into a torrent client (I use uTorrent) and it directs the client on how to go out and find the various trackers for the actual download, at which point it automatically starts hooking up to all the people out there with the file (or partial copies of the file) and begins the download.

Essentially, it's a lot like Napster, only massively decentralized and hugely more efficient.

Been cable-free for about two years now.

If that doesn't work, I suppose there's always hulu. Never used it myself, but I hear folks who aren't into the torrent scene talk about it.

Hulu or the network websites. You have to sit through a commercial every 10 minutes or so but it it's too bad.

I think thepiratebay.org was one of the sites that was seized by Customs.

thepiratebay sucks, try and get a invite only site, private tracker. (which is MUCH safer)

I.E. torrentleech.org

Doesn't seem to be. I am logged into it right now.

The site has been busted several times, however it's always popped back up within days, if not hours. They're doing a pretty good job of living up to their moniker as "The world's most resilient bittorrent site."

Re: safety, use PeerBlock or similar.

The problem I have with invite sites is that, by definition, they have a small userbase. This means that the number of peers for any given torrent tends to be small (read: slow downloads) and they tend to have a much narrower variety of files to choose from than the big aggregator sites like PirateBay or IsoHunt.

For example, I've got an account on TheBox, which I used to use for all of my TopGear torrents. I still have the account, but I almost never use it anymore unless I'm looking for something really obscure (and British.)

Granted, nothing lasts forever. Mininova used to be my favorite, but they caved after the bust and went legit. Consequently, while they are still online, they are dying the death of Napster. As a whole, however, the bittorrent concept seems like it's doing pretty well so far.

Not the same site, Customs seized thepiratecity.org, my mistake.

Private trackers are a must. Hd-torrents.org or hd-space.org or wild-bytes.org.

Well, I was going to suggest Surfthechannel.com but it's currently down. If it comes back up it's a great site for a wide variety of shows.

torrentleech does not have this issue. Always TONS of seeders (you have to hold a ratio), I consistently get 1.5-2 megs per second on a medium tier cable connection.

Be careful with torrents; I had da popoz come twice. Well, only one was for piracy, but you get the gist of it.

Pay for a rapidshare and use warez, it's 1,000,000x safer and much, much better.
