I saw that at the LA auto show. It looked pretty good, especially compared to the other Lexus' around it, and in person the color was really cool.

How do you know it's lightweight?

The stock one certainly isn't lightweight, and this one appears to have more body cladding than stock. The interior also looks stock.

if they produced that car exactly how it is (flat black and gold rims included) I'd sell my house and buy one.

that'd be hot on the original IS... and that auto shifter looks a little out of place

i was drooling until i saw the shifter...GAAAAAAAAAAAY

they put that car into production, truely light weight, with manual gear box, without BS gadgets, i'll buy one
maybe marketed as toyota or scion, no NAV, no 6CD, no power seats, etc.
i think they could get away selling these around 35K without all the BS equipment

At least they got rid of weight where it's important, the side-view mirrors. Probably offsets the weight of an auto trans.

face it: the modern auto box is a better trans. they shift faster than a human can, and know how to pick the right gear for the situation. you'll see fewer and fewer manuals available in everything except the lowest end econoboxes. and more and more 6,7,8 speed autos...

I've run through the gears of a pos DSG vw before, and I was very impressed. It sucked that it won't hold the gear at redline (is-f will) but the shifts were fast and firm.
