Ugliest custom motorcycle candidate

So I go to ebay to do some parts shopping, and a linked image of this auction is being displayed right on the front page. OK is it just me or is this whole custom chopper thing just getting ridiculous?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Custo...em260209799791
:barf:
Current bid: US $100,000.00
:bowrofl:

OK maybe I am a function-before-form kind of guy, but for 1/10th of the current bid you can buy a bike that weighs 200 lbs less, makes more power, stops better, turns better... I mean I could get it MAYBE if it was a nice looking bike, but damn... OCC and Richard Petty are excellent individuals and what not, but... damn...

OK it is for charity, and a good one at that, so that aspect of it is very admirable. No offense intended to that part of the sale.

I like it, but i run alot of CAT equipment. I like the charity as well. If I was going to buy a motorcycle that obviously wouldn't be practical but it is pretty darn cool. I bet it's loud as all get out having the stack right by your ear though.

SamS 02-15-2008 10:34 PM

I can appreciate it, but choppers and cruisers just aren't for me. My dad used to have a v-rod, he only let me ride it once because i scraped a good 1/4" off of his footpegs going around corners. Not to mention the brakes were just terrible compared even to a Ninja 250.

The CAT bike sure does look beefy.

how about one of these:

OCC makes some of the worst junk out there.... so yah.

Some of the shit they do on their bikes is just unsafe. "Well, this didn't quite fit right... so we ground it down to fit. Then it didn't look good so we just removed the (insert structural member here) completely."

y8s 02-16-2008 12:39 PM

to be fair, those OCC bikes probably dont clock 50 miles in their lifetime most of the time. they just go up for auction and sit in someones carpeted garage.

but yeah, they are designed by essentially jiffy lube mechanics.

Thats great......

I ride sport bikes. But I drive to fast. And being a Respiratory Therapist is like motorcycle kryptenite!

I don't wanna get hurt so i'm going to get out of bikes and turbo a Miata to get 200hp with no roll bar....Lol

I need to get one.

thebeerbaron 02-16-2008 01:09 PM

i've never ridden a bike, and i have no real desire to, but i do have an artistic streak. the thing that i don't get about OCC bikes is that they're all the same with some tacky junk thrown on.

There's so much you can do when all you've got to design around are two wheels, a motor and a seat. I've seen some really beautiful and unique custom bikes. Not from OCC though.

edit - and i doubt any of them would qualify for an entry-level Jiffy job.

They recently built some Army bike with bullets and crap held on with double stick tape, I was like wtf?

vsloun 02-17-2008 11:52 AM

What bike was posted above?? I need a new wallpaper :eek5:

Loki047 02-17-2008 12:18 PM

Well at least the only talented ones in that group (and i use that term loosely) left os tart their own ship vinny and cody. Too bad mikey didnt go with

ZX-Tex 02-17-2008 05:42 PM

That Hellcat is definitely a step in the right direction compared to the CAT bike. Decent looking suspension and brakes, lighter frame...

They are pretty freakin fast, and definitely not for everyone, no harm in that. That is why so many get totalled on the street shortly after being purchased. A lot of people that buy sport bikes, especially the liter bikes, have no idea how FUCKING FAST they are. Unless one drives a Veyron, or some other insane car that runs sub 10 sec 1/4-mile times with 130+ trap speeds they have no idea... It is a whole new level of acceleration. They can kill you in a hurry if you get stupid.

But, all that said, best bang for your buck by far. And, pulling the trigger on a 180 HP race-tuned liter bike (that weighs well under 600 lbs with you on it) coming out of a corner on race tires, then accelerating to 160+ MPH in just a few seconds is... intense... :bigtu:

Bryce 02-17-2008 06:24 PM

Woah, I should convince the Gf to let me ride her bike.

eunos1800 02-17-2008 07:04 PM

ALL custom type bikes are ugly aren't they?

But that one looks an even bigger piece of shite to most others i've seen.

Why would you spend that much money on a bike that don't go round corners or stop, shakes every foooooookin bolt out before you get out the garage?

TurboTim 02-18-2008 08:41 AM

I saw the Joe Gibbs OCC chopper in person at Joe Gibbs Racing, and holy shit, the build quality sucked. The welds looked like total ass (makes mine look pro) and they didn't even sand the edges of those waterjetted parts so the gussets and handlebars (bllaaaaa) were tapered and sharp. it would have taken what, 10 minutes on a belt sander to clean them up before powdercoating? Horrible.

viciousclipse 02-18-2008 09:11 AM

but its got a nascar driver on it................it will sell.:jerkit:

Loki047 02-18-2008 09:19 AM

Hey does anyone know about a british guy who makes bikes without kickstands and has a twist clutch? I dont remember his name. Oh and his bikes dont come with kickstands
