i could barely drive my altima in the snow here today. let alone i didnt bother test driving the miata i looked at :)

shuiend 01-17-2008 05:50 PM

I left my miata at work and got a ride home so I would not have to drive home. I figured the new clutch I just, boost, and balding high performance summer tiers would not make for a good combination.

Ben 01-17-2008 05:51 PM

I drove my miata yesterday, with the 8" wide wheels and summer tires, as it was snowing. I think we got 2" :)
No accumulation or ice of course

paul 01-17-2008 05:57 PM

well i am happy he made it home in the 5" of snow so he could get 5" from his boyfriend

soflarick 01-17-2008 05:59 PM

i drove my 240sx today instead of the truck(out of gas) I didn't know this was going to happen. but i couldn't go home after work either because we had to meet with the travel agent in the total opposite direction. it was an adventure with the shit tires i have, but i managed to pass and alitma and a volvo xc90:eek:

bryantaylor 01-17-2008 11:13 PM

i have never even seen snow, much less drive in it. a coulpe of weeks ago when it was like 28, a neighborhood left the sprinklers on, and the road iced up just a little in about a maybee 10 foot area, and there was like a 10-15 car pileup, LOL!

miataspeed1point6 01-17-2008 11:18 PM

Who lives somewhere that they sand the roads? I've heard of it, but do they actually never use salt? That would awsome.

Markp 01-17-2008 11:18 PM

LMAO... Someone came to MrMiatagay's defense... He was Pwned too.

Thats awsome. It kills everything for the car scene here and I hate it.

Colorado uses sand, it just kinda mixes with the snow, and gives you a bit more grip.

What really sucks about Michigan is the amount of ice and studs not being legal. That and the giant potholes everywhere.

cjernigan 01-18-2008 12:50 AM

When it ices here in cookeville they sand instead of salt. Back home they used a chemical instead of salt, eats your car less.

Yeah, it has been raining here on and off all week. Last week we had 4" of snow, now it's all gone and raining. Week before that it was 65.

Every morning there is ice everywhere. By noon it all melts, then it rains again. I hate this state. The roads are BAD. I'm afraid to run a stiffer suspension because of them.

leshok 01-18-2008 06:42 AM

Its a bummer I live in california.
I have only seen snow twice in my life. Im deprived.
Stupid sunshine!!

miataz 01-18-2008 08:05 AM

they mix salt with sand sometimes if its really bad, but never straight sand. Just carry some sand or salt in the back of your car...

boardboy330 01-18-2008 08:51 AM

In the OP's defense....he....well...OK, he's a retard.... lol

The turbo was quite useful yesterday going home...in snow and ice :)

Up at school (Menomonie, WI) they only plow the two main roads if it snows less than 6", they just lay sand down on the rest of the roads and let the big redneck trucks pack it all down.

LOLA - 92 01-18-2008 05:04 PM

I have seen snow. It accumulates on the ice cubes in my freezer.

There are lots of big redneck trucks down here, but they don't do much other than...... waste gas..... Oh and they often slide into ditches when it rains.

Does the sand help? It hasn't snowed here in two weeks and there is still rock salt EVERYWHERE.

urgaynknowit 01-18-2008 09:16 PM

the sometimes only sand here in ma
depends on where u live,
on highways, and main roads. they use salt, very heavily
on back roads, they use sand
on my road, they don't do anything.....
