VA Tech Shootings...OMG

That's about the same size campus I work at. Honestly this incident is one of the things that worries me a little, especially since my wife works in the same building I do.
This time of year people are wound REALLY tight, and with ~30K people in such close proximity to each other, you never know what will happen.
Having said that, in my 10 years working here, we've had one incident that was diffused before any violence could take place. Haven't been any bomb threats that I'm aware of, but I work in a building that has very little teaching space.
******* people, how do you wake up one day and decide to go on a killing spree?

Have you seen the cell phone video captured by that Jamal Abhourghti (sp)?
Total speculation, but what it sounds like to me is the shooter has 2 different weapons and is walking from room to room, shooting whoever is in front of him.
Which suggest that the shooter had knowledge of the building's lay out, and also that the incident was planned.

Up to 31 confirmed dead now. Very sad.
FWIW, I have a GA concealed carry permit. Even with the permit, I'm not allowed to carry a weapon into public venues or anywhere alcohol is sold. So I am allowed to carry, but not into places like a mall or school. Don't know how those laws differ state to state.

BTW, Arizona's STATE Constitution specifically states that citizens are allowed to possess firearms as INDIVIDUALS to protect themselves and their families as well as to come to the aid of the government. Arizona is also a "stand your ground" State. This means that you do NOT have to retreat in the face of danger before you use deadly force.
