too bad everything else around the motor is shit.

18psi 05-17-2008 03:34 PM

hahahahah......not a fan of vw's

Arkmage 05-17-2008 04:35 PM

so they made it RWD? or did they do some goofy shit to keep the awd?

18psi 05-17-2008 05:11 PM

pretty sure since its an audi its awd. they are either awd or fwd, no rwd that ive seen

stock yes... i know that. but I have no fucking clue how they would keep awd with that configuration unless they used an STI driveline or something. I'm willing to bet that car is RWD.

Why would it have to be an STI driveline? The A4 is longitudinal mounted AWD with a V6-TT... Hell its prolly the same damn block as the VR6

Just by looking at how far forward the engine is and where the fenders are, it would appear possible that you could have a transfer case mounted on the forward part of the tranny and get power to at least one front wheel... how about 3WD?

The_Pipefather 05-17-2008 09:03 PM

That's hella cool. My daily driver is a VR6 Jetta, and I've always thought what a great engine it would be if only it drove the rear wheels instead of the front. A locost-type vehicle with transverse VR6-T in the back is one vehicle I'd love to build, given the time and money.

Oh. Hell. Yeah. That would rock.

Old man up the street built a Northstar powered Fiero a few years back. That was incredible!

they make a bunch of adapters to put it on the stock drivetrain.

V6 :ne: VR6, it's impossible to run a V6 and a VR6 off of the same block.

werd. Anyone who's ever driven or owned one knows it spins like a sex-machine L6...absolute perfection. Its too bad the rest of the car around the motor doesn't have as much win.

Well until about 20 minutes ago the only thing I knew about VR6 was its a VW, and has 6 cylinders.. Found a pretty neat site about the deign and makeup of the motor. Technically, according to them, its still a V6 ;) just with a 15 degree V.

Pretty incredible design! Now if we could only get a small displacement VR8, or VR12.. :)

How about a DoD VR12 with 2 turbochargers... That'd be one smooth operator!

VW went the "W" route with all the 8+ cylinder engines.

kotomile 05-18-2008 03:10 PM

right, like the W8 (think two "VR4"s), W12 (two VR6s) and the W16tttt that's in the Veyron.

Drewkeen 05-19-2008 06:21 PM

The V6 is completely different from the VR6. I wonder if they went RWD or AWD, too.

they went awd, how many more times do I have to say this? Jesus fuck!!!

If you look at the Audi AWD tranny there are half-shaft outputs for the front wheels mid-way down the casing.
