Want a 2nd car: Looking for an 80's import turbo pimpmobile
Yeah so i'm looking for olde 80's turbo cars.
Here is a list of ideas: 323 GTX Mitsu Mirage Turbo Starion/Conquest MX6 (i know not 80's) Turbo some of the Z cars I found this conquest what do you guys think. http://houston.craigslist.org/car/631216093.html |
my '89 626 turbo hatchback was badass.

GTX would be uber cool, but the parts are hard to find and I've heard the driveline is fragile under higher power levels. The Starion is supposedly bullet proof, but very truck like in it's driving. Too bad all the cool turbo Zs are pigs/boats. Mirage is too econobox for me.... Too bad the mx6 is fwd... I still like them and that was a good era for Mazdas IMO. Easy to mod, parts plentiful (probably as much as the Z cars).
I'd say MX6 if that conquest doesn't pan out - it looks VERY nice. If I could find a 626 like scott's old one in mint condition I'd buy it. To me that is the ideal car for current gas prices, practicality and good driving. |

I got it for free and sold it like a dumbass. It only needed a little work to be in ship shape. I didnt want to invest. The guy that bought it from me completely built it. I need to find him again and buy it back now that it's a built monster. |
87-88 turbo thunderbird
944 turbo Omni GLH |
Starion...rofl. Thats old school gangster. I had a mechanic friend who swore by them (as a DD).
|
galant VR-4...if you can find one
|
I agree with the newb above ^^^^ 46g3 + AWD.
you can plug and play a 16 or 20g on it and run 12s or 13s to the grocery store. |
Toyota Celica AllTrac Turbo.
You can abuse the stock 2.0 3SGTE at 400 hp all day long. http://www.alltrac.net/images/bov/st165Blitzbov.jpg and then do this to it: http://members.tripod.com/kaferjca0/st165-1.jpg |

She thinks all the cars I like are ugly, and I said "thats the point :) " I just want a turbo under the hood. I would kill for a celica all-trac but they are just as hard to find as the GTX |
Theres a couple cars for sale here in Kansas City I looked at:
1986 300ZX Turbo, ~ 97000 miles. Speedometer/Odometer didn't work, digital dash, body was straight and mostly rust free, paint faded, boosted very strong, suspension felt pretty good, needed some brakes badly. $1500 asking. 1990 Galant GSX, ~ 140,000 miles, rattecan black, 1992 GS interior, headlights, etc.. Needs a new Windsheild, and axle shaft. Everything on the car worked, body was 100% straight and car came from texas. $900 asking. 1991 Galant VR4 -- Didn't look at it, but they wanted around $4000 |
Starlet:

323GTX would be my car of choice.
