weaksauce wifi at public library
|
hehe. Fractional T1 to the main office, FTL. the funny thing is, i'm posting this from the IT office at the headquarters of a public library.

You're complaining about those speeds?
How about your cable company continually upgrading your downstream speeds (I think I'm at 6000-8000kbs) while reducing your upstream bandwidth (began at 768kbs, downgraded to 512, downgraded to 256...this, over the course of the past 6 years)? And I have to pay for it :D |

You all make me sick. But if you think this is slow, you should see what I have to deal with in Iraq. Basically, I pay $150 a month for a connection that makes a 56k look fast.

I made a lot of costly (money and GPA) mistakes in undergrad so I figured I'd do well on a grad degree that was relative to where I was working already and see what I want to do from there. |
uhhh.. this is such a huge circle jerk.. NEXT topic.

for real. At the moment, clerical/front desk stuff with a little cataloging of new books. I'm actually working on a masters in library science to be a librarian. Don't know what kind of library I'll end up in, law, university, public, or museum. The plan is either stick with this track and have a relatively stress free job that pays decently or go to law school after this degree, make lots of money for a lot more stress.

Yea satellite internet sucks, especially when you share it with 20 other people. But it's better than waiting in line at the MWR.

Embarq (formerly Sprint) DSL at my mother's house in Florida (where I am now) = very much The Suck:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/216263383.png Worst part is that she pays something like $50 a month for this garbage! Small town living... I just VPN'd into my living room PC back home and ran the test there, gave me this: http://www.speedtest.net/result/216240446.png I'm surprised at how hugely asymmetrical my connection is. |
