Web host suggestions

Sick and tired of the shitty hosting service we have been getting with Netfirms lately and I'm looking for a new host. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with web hosts?

Don't need any crazy high storage or bandwidth limits, more looking for something reliable and fast.

I use dreamhost and other than some teething issues in the first few months, I've had no issues with them.

you do get crazy storage and bandwidth limits, but so what.

Urbansoot might be able to help you guys out. I know he runs some webhosting out in CA.

i have used dreamhost shared linus and windows, slicehost vps linux, 1&1 shared and vps windows, and godaddy shared linux and windows.

I actually have never had huge problems with any of the above, though i'm sure someone will aim an arrow at my knee for mentioning godaddy.

dreamhost is cheap and will likely do whatever you need from it. 1&1 i have found has actually even worse customer service than godaddy unless you're leasing a private server from them and then they'll pay attention to you. I currently have a couple projects on godaddy hosting and have had VERY few problems with them aside from random technical issues that i wouldn't expect many people to even encounter (medium security pool issues in .Net)

No problems at all with Bluehost. Very fast support.

I use Lunarpages for the 4 sites I have.

In the past 3 years or so I haven't had any issues with them.

speaking of customer service, whenever I have submitted tickets at dreamhost, they were responded to and resolved very quickly.

yeah, i had similar good experience with dreamhost when i was using them. but that was like a decade ago... so i didn't want to make claims that could be outdated at this point.

dreamhost shared linux, mmm so good. 7 years now going strong, I host over 20 domains out of there.

+1 for bluehost, if you need Windows dotNet-host.com is super cheap, friendly and reliable.

OLM.net .... near zero down time in the past 7 years, good around the clock support, lots of services, add ons and goodies, large bandwidth allowances.....inexpensive.
