I just want to set up a basic site for a few hobbies, lots of pictures with descriptions... your basic hobby site.
There are thousands of webhosters but they all seem to have exactly the same ****. The cost really isnt' important, but based on what I've seen, I don't think I need to spend more than $10 month.
I need it to have a retard-simple sitebuilder that doesn't require me to select one of the uber-gay templates they all seem to push. Basically, I need a supersized version of vbGarage... just a place to put out photos, writeups, maybe host short videos, links to stuff... basics. I don't want any google ads, 500emails, and don't need to run a business from it.
If you've got a website like what I'm talking about, please post a link and let me know who you go through.

You have to deal with popups, but the UI is simple. They have a pagebuilder, but if you wish you can work directly in HTML as I do. They also have a much higher bandwidth limit than geocities, which I used to use until the writeup got popular.

I use them and so do alot of business people I work around. Their bronze package is cheap, their customer service is great. They can both register and host for you. I think it was like $90 for a year with more storage and bandwidth than I could ever need for what we have online.
They're based in canada though they automatically exchange the $ rate.

Well, another hour out of my life trying to decide who to go with. I'd really like my own domain name, got it picked out and it's available... just so much **** to sift through.
Still looking, I'll get back to ya!

and they let us give out promo codes to make us money. i can either give big discounts or make big money or some combination. here's the big discount ones:
Y8SMONTH
Y8SYEAR
if you sign up for either the one year or monthly one they give the max discount. it makes the year one pretty damn cheap. you get $97 off. I think it's only 50 off for the monthly. dont bother with anything over "crazy domain insane" L1.
and I suggest registering your domain name somewhere ELSE so one company doesn't have you by the ***** if you ever need to move hosts. godaddy.com for example. you can do that now and get hosting later.

Godaddy is good since you have your domain name no matter what. they can also host your site free by adding a small google ad bar on the top of your site.
I hosted a few servers thru them, then once I got my server box I transferred the server hosting to my own box.
