boostinsteve 02-26-2007 08:29 PM

I found my new career choice.

Mach929 02-26-2007 08:35 PM

totally fake, just a rich guy being an asshole

Arkmage 02-26-2007 08:47 PM

there was a newspaper article back when I was in highschool that said something like 50% of street beggars actually make over $50K/year taking advantage of peoples kindness (and stupidity).

I've also met people in the German subways that are "beggars". I actually hung out with one named "Tick" quite a bit. This dude didn't want a real job because he had one and it sucked having to do other peoples' work on their terms. So he became a subway beggar. I saw his degrees (3 of them, 2 bachelors degrees one in physics and one in electrical engineering, and a masters in philosphy), he had worked in 14 countries other than Germany including China, USA, Austria, and Australia (his native country). Tick is probably one of the most intellegent and experienced people I've ever met.... and he is a beggar living off a small income of about 85K euro a year. His occupation is drinking rum in the subway.

fake - but do the math. being reasonable allowing for changes in lights, being moved on etc - try 20 cars per hour for $1 x 8 hour day, for 6 days a week - your only up to $960 per week. x 50 weeks per annum thats 48k - hardly worth getting out of the cardboard box for.

turbopezz 02-26-2007 08:59 PM

i remember reading in the ny times that the beggers on wall st.where making 100,000 a year.the govt wanted tocharg them tax.

on another note.bums are cool people usually.i met a guy in the city who was asking for money, and my friend asked if he could lend him a dollar for a drink.
the guy was like here you go .but my friend diddnt take the dudes money.

also met this chinese guy.who pushed a big shopping kart bicycle combo.he said he started in texas and went to florida then up the coast.i wonder if my friend has that video??

Loki047 02-26-2007 09:58 PM

My family supports a homeless guy, he definitly didn't make 50k a year. At least not in chicago, if they did cops would be hasseling em down all the time. They already do just to get their rates up, why not get some undocumented money too... Definitely bullshit.

LOOINEY 02-27-2007 04:29 AM

The only thing i give the bums is my Pine tree air freshners... new car smells good for only a week so i pass it on.

Braineack 02-27-2007 08:58 AM

1.68 x 33 (cycles/hr) x 3.6 (cars) x 8 (hours) = $1312 a day

118 cars an hour? 944 cars a day? Give me a break.

yes, some beggars do make a good amount of cash, I've heard a news report when I was in Richmond of some guys make close to 40k a year standing on the corners.

But don't go making a stupid video with bad actors. The dude couldn't own the house or car. He'd be audited if he declared no income or an income and didn't pay taxes. Plus just the mortgage, property taxes, and cars payments alone wouldn't make him that rich. And he wouldn't of boughten the house with cash, or he'd need a bank account, and without an address to begin with, he couldn't have opened the bank account. If he did buy that house with cash, if would have taken over a year to save up the cash and then dropping down a few sack fulls of $1 bills.

y8s 02-27-2007 10:25 AM

chevy chase bank has those coinstar thingers... maybe they'd overlook 800,000 dollars in change.

getsidewaysd1 02-27-2007 11:56 AM

DAMN Braineack: it was just a funny video someone made. Wasnt suppose to be true.

Braineack 02-27-2007 12:28 PM

i know, but at least if something has no purpose, make it believable.

Way to suck the joy out of yet another entertaining video. You might want to wash some of that sand out of yer vagina.

Tax free? I'd say it would be worth while.

Also depends on your location. In Ann Arbor the begger income is much higher than say in detroit.

just cause im a negatvie nacy doesn't take out any entertainment. i laughed at first, and then lokoed at the numbers and was like, come on, at least make it halfway believable. I know for a fact that some guys do make 40-50k a year doing that shit. this was just a little too good to be true sort of thing.

jayc72 02-27-2007 01:01 PM

You're right. Once you break it down and do the math it is clearly fake and meant to be satirical. I would have noticed this at first if I wasn't distracted by the bad acting and fake beard/wig. Thank god we have math! :)

Braineack 02-27-2007 01:09 PM

exactly dude!
