What do yo feed your cat?

I have an old shitzoo. Anyway the old dog bearly gets around and has Diabetes.
Anyway I am continually giving the dog soft food, and peanut butter when I see her get obtunded.
Problem is the new puppy continually eats the soft food over hers, and the old dog can't chew the hard dog food.

So I need something I can leave down and both eat, but the puppy not enhale all of it.

Well last night I found it. I bought a bag of cat food. It is hard, small enough for the small dog to eat, and they both love it.
Now I can leave the cat food out during the day for both of them to eat. And when I put the puppy in the crate at night, I can put the old dogs soft food back out.

And if you are woundering about nutrition for the puppy. It gets all types of scraps, bones, nutrition treats, dry food, and half the little dogs food. I'm from the country. Our dogs always ate scraps, and any stray animal they could prey apon. LOL And they usually live 15 yrs.
They do die fat though. Lol

But anyway, what is yout prefered dry cat food?

Science Diet - RX
The shit's like $5 a pound.
Cost me an arm and Leg for four (4) live indoor cats

Braineack 09-07-2008 03:03 PM

Iams indoor cat formula. When I'm cheap, Purina Indoor or Natural.

johndoe 09-07-2008 03:08 PM

I give mine Pet Promise (it has no byproducts).

Science Diet.

My cat is small, but it seems like it takes her nearly 2 months before she goes through a 10lb bag.

Science diet is the best commonly available cat food. I usually feed my cat Iams though. It's reasonable stuff. I worked at an animal shelter and a vet for a while. When we would switch animals to science diet there was a noticeable improvement in physical appearance and activity. They do sometimes get the science diet "gut," but it's not a problem.

Just be aware that dog food is larger so that the large kibbles will scrape plaque off the dogs teeth and help keep them clean. You may want to manually clean your dogs teeth if you are feeding cat food.

If I could ask; what do you mean Science Diet 'gut'? My cat does have a hairball issue...

Sorry to the OP..

Doppelgänger 09-07-2008 09:28 PM

i feed my cat unburned fuel and hydrocarbons...

Arkmage 09-07-2008 11:42 PM

whatever my wife buys and throws into the tupperware in the laundy room... don't know that I've ever seen the bag, but probably science diet.

Faeflora 09-08-2008 08:22 AM

I feed my cats food that doesn't have wheat. Or meat byproducts. Or euthanized cats and dogs.

Then you would buy the Science Diet Hairball Formula -- Or just add in Fish Oil to the food....

Newbsauce 09-08-2008 01:18 PM

The cheapest dry stuff from Wal-mart, and canned food sometimes. They won't even eat the expensive cat food, so I don't buy it anymore.

Braineack 09-08-2008 03:29 PM

We used to have a cat that only like the cheap Wiskas, or whatever it's called. And only from a small box....she would know if it was from a bag. In fact, if you mixed the two, same cat food, one in a box and one from a bag, she would only eat the ones from the box....somehow she could figure it out.

Kinda like coke in the little glass bottles versus from a can/2 liter bottle/etc... shit's just different out of that lil glass bottle.
