What do you guys pay for car insurance?

At one point I was at $440 a month for my 90' miata and my 99' GMC Envoy. Right now I currently only have the miata on my policy, and progressive just sent my renewal quote, and it dropped again down to $124 a month. I'm pretty f'n stoked! :bigtu:

Just wondering what everyone else pays, and who do you use for insurance...

Vash-

magnamx-5 07-19-2007 11:09 AM

I payed brace yourself 360$ a month for liability on a 94 nissan pickup a few years ago i now pay 150$ or so a month for liability on the nissan and my car. The real question is what they will do if the know your miata is turboed ;)

jsisco 07-19-2007 11:17 AM

$158 a month for the miata(liability) and my wife's 98 civic(full).

Magna you like the nissan pickup? I've been thinking about getting one for the DD while I start the engine and turbo build. I have to be able to drive to school, and it would make a decent parts fetcher.

drewbroo 07-19-2007 11:18 AM

I pay 710 every 6 months for a 96 Miata, and an 06 Corolla. (All full coverage with rental) So that comes out to about 118 a month.

y8s 07-19-2007 11:39 AM

maybe you guys should stop getting tickets and smashing up your cars. god damn.

I think I've averaged about 1100 / yr for two cars with full coverage on the miata (0 ded comp etc)

Newbsauce 07-19-2007 11:48 AM

Yeah uh I pay 106/month for an 01 Lex IS300 and a 93 miata... but thats like bare minimum cause i'm 24.. one more year and I can get full coverage!

Joe Perez 07-19-2007 12:09 PM

Unmarried 30 year old male, '92 Miata, Geico, last ticket in '00:

BI 500/500: $130 per 6 mo.
PD 50: $91 per 6 mo.
UM/UIM 500/500: $49 per 6 mo.
Comp 250 ded: $23 per 6 mo.
Coll 500 ded: $64 per 6 mo.

SamS 07-19-2007 12:22 PM

$125/mo for full coverage with several tickets but all were over 2 yrs ago, and I'm 19 years old. $25/mo for full coverage on the ducati :bigtu:

Who is your insurer? I pay State Farm damn near the same amount for my SV650 as I do Geico for the car, and SF was the lowest quote I could find.

SamS 07-19-2007 12:52 PM

American Family, but we have a $1mil umbrella policy on all of our vehicles, so it's a little cheaper that way.

jwarriner 07-19-2007 01:04 PM

I pay $179/mo for:

1992 Mazda Miata: Full coverage
2002 Honda VTR1000F SuperHawk: Full coverage
2000 Toyota Celica GT Auto: Full coverage
1973 Honda CB500: Liability

Provider: Liberty Mutual

Jefe 07-19-2007 01:07 PM

4 cars--- $560 every 6 mos, full coverage on a couple, liability on the beaters.. Just switched from USAA to Allstate...

96rdstr 07-19-2007 01:09 PM

186 per month for the 96 Miata and the Mini Cooper, Full Coverage, all high liabilities, zero deductable. Nationwide, No tickets since 1993, no accidents since 1996(wife).

Dont ask me about homeowners ins. We are getting flat raped down here in FL.

speedf50 07-19-2007 01:46 PM

I'm 16...

RotorNutFD3S 07-19-2007 01:54 PM

23; '95 Miata; AllState; No tickets since late 2003 (and that was the only one on my record ever), no accidents that were my fault ever:
$105/month - Full coverage, including part replacement due to theft or vandalism. And they know I'm boosted. ;)

wildfire0310 07-19-2007 02:05 PM

$400ish per 6 mo liability w/ vandalism for the car
$40 per mo(full coverage) for the R6 that got stolen(long story)
Statefarm....22 yrs old... last ticket back in 03 but three tickets in 16 mo period

fyi the R6 would have been $226 full coverage w/o the miata....lol

Philip 07-19-2007 02:18 PM

100 a month for the GTO and the jeep.

x2 on the stop driving like fucksticks comment.

Atlanta93LE 07-19-2007 02:30 PM

~$80/mnth for Miata and '07 Sat. Vue

But that's bound to go up now after my stupid incident

xturner 07-19-2007 03:44 PM

I'm at about 389/mo for 90 miata, 95 nissan pickup, 01 Accord and 05 TSX, with only one live speeding violation, but I live in Vash's area and we're all screwed.

Fritch 07-19-2007 04:45 PM

$160/month full coverage from State Farm on my Mazdaspeed3, thanks to all the fuckfaces that keep wrecking them

Arkmage 07-19-2007 06:21 PM

right around $100/mn for comprehensive. the wife's taurus is like $75/mn for liability only.

magnamx-5 07-19-2007 06:46 PM

I love my nissan KA24e ftw. reliable great city gas mileage and very nice torque and gearing esp for a 4 cylinder. My buddy nick calls it a bigblock 4 cylinder and he is right. ;)

kotomile 07-19-2007 07:07 PM

770 every 6 months for 93 Miata and 05 SRT4.

Thankfully, my insurance company doesn't have a box to check for "SRT4", so I pay the normal Neon rate.

Dhaark 07-19-2007 08:04 PM

Mine is around 160/month for comprehensive and collision on 0/100 deductibles. Now it's probably more like 140 something since I am 19. (My parents are not on my policy or anyone else).

hustler 07-19-2007 09:53 PM

$88 for my 1991 miata
$86 for my 2000 outback

I'm about to switch the miata to Sneed.

Gloko 07-19-2007 10:17 PM

I love how alot of us have 2+ "sporty" type cars :).....personally I have a 90 Miata and a 04 RX8. I pay 160 a month (Maita Liability, RX8 Full).......Its funny how the Miata is the biggest engine I've yet owned, and by far the funniest Car Ive yet owned.....till the elise gets here that is :p

rotaryjunky 07-19-2007 11:08 PM

I pay $335 per six months for full coverage and my agent looks the other way on tickets. People don't really steal cars up here much because everyone has lots of guns, I think.

Especially Tampa.....

Ben 07-19-2007 11:17 PM

27.5 years old, 1 speeding ticket from 2 or so years. Only other moving violation was when I was 16, so it's part of my juvi record, not driving record. No at fault accidents ever, 2 not at faults (one bitch ran a red and t-boned me, another bitch changed lanes into me). One claim maybe 6 years ago when a different bitch backed her fat ass into my headlamp and drove off.
Around ~1500 a year I think now. 5 cars, 2 bikes, house. Lots of coverage and $1M umbrella.

And just realizing here. 3 not at fault incidents. All 3 caused by ugly bitches not paying attention.

Trent 07-19-2007 11:41 PM

23 years old.

One at fault accident about a year ago. No speeding tickets.

$163/mo for full coverage on an '07 Honda CRV and liability/comprehensive on the Miata.

Yeah, it seems most second cars are either beaters or some other sporty car.

off topic- There are those - myself included - who would say that your RX8 has the biggest engine you've ever owned, since many people consider the 13B and its variants to be a 2.6 liter.

nvmx-5 07-20-2007 08:32 AM

well i pay for my motorcycle insureance and that comes out to $70 a month for a 04 600rr but now i got a speeding and a wreckless in one year so thats going to go through the roof

magnamx-5 07-20-2007 08:41 AM

nvmx-5 have you tried traffic school in KY you can go once a year for any violation like speeding etc. the only reason i have a ticket on my record is cause i had just been throught traffic school about 9 months before  gotta love there loop holes it isn't when you got the ticket it is the last time you went wich is gay in my opinion.

LOLA - 92 07-20-2007 08:42 AM

$35.22 a month from the little lizzard people. :bigtu:
I dont pay no stinkin $100/$150 a month. :td:

nvmx-5 07-20-2007 09:14 AM

yeah well va is every two years so i can take the calss again in august.. so i'll go from -6 to -1. and now VA state law is gay for a reckless ticket it'll cost you 3k plus court fees and insurance. I HATE VA

Pitlab77 07-21-2007 01:55 AM

like 50~60 a month full coverage
26 male
Clean record

Trent 07-21-2007 02:02 AM

Well if we're only going to post just the miata, the miata technically only costs me $27/mo for liability and comprehensive. The brand new CRV makes up the bulk of my insurance bill.

kotomile 07-21-2007 02:20 AM

What's the typical drop I can expect when I turn 25 in a couple months?

drewbroo 07-21-2007 06:23 AM

Mine dropped 300 every 6 months (I just turned 25)

firedog25 07-21-2007 02:19 PM

I pay around $1900 per year.

Full coverage on...

'91 Miata
'02 Impreza WRX
'04 Mazda6
'06 Nissan Titan

Gap coverage on the 6 and Titan.

Fritch 07-21-2007 03:34 PM

Ben 07-21-2007 09:38 PM

for real

NY and cars don't mix.

HEY! another SV650 rider!

I just got insured by McGraw last week. $150/year for liab only on the '00 SV.

my cars are a LOT more tho:
32yo male, 1 accident, 1 tix last 3 years + 25yo female, no tix, no accident
Los Angeles City
$1100/6 months for '96 Miata, '02 S2K and '01 Saab 9-3.

Joseph B 07-23-2007 03:53 PM

I pay $50 per month to Geico, which isn't too bad considering that I live in NJ. I remember the insanity of paying $300 a month when I was a teenager. :)

I pay $290 a month now:td:, all-risk, or full coverage as you call it
only 19 y/o so it should drop a fair amount...

from what I've spent on insurance in one year could get me 220rwhp :sadwavey:

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME! Really man you need to shop around. When I first started driving many places wanted 200+ dollars. I found a company that cost 75. I now pay 60. Shop around you are paying way too much.

Unless you have a brand new Miata and still paying payments I feel its a waste of money to have collision on a Miata since they are not worth very much. Not worth paying 3480 a year when your car is only worth 3-7k. And dropping collision isn't the end of the world, just don't hit anybody! Plus its not like they are going to cover all of your go fast turbo goodies. :bigtu:

turbopezz 07-24-2007 01:45 AM

yea,i did shop around other joints wanted 400-500 a month.

the thing is where i live is you do need a car(its not like manhattan) and the insurance companies know this, sooo they fuck you and laugh.

a few months back there was a article in the local newspaper about the insurance agencies triple charging us.(even more then brooklyn)
just for the fact that people will pay.but im sure that poltician got payed off.

medisyn 07-24-2007 02:01 AM

Man I thought CA was bad. Jesus move to New Jersey :inout:

magnamx-5 07-24-2007 11:08 AM

I bet KY has alot less mass transit and further for people to drive daily than NY pezz, but i agree insurance company's are screwing us. Anytime a 19 year old pays 220$ a month for a 8 year old camry on basic liability there is a problem. ;)

TonyC 07-24-2007 02:23 PM

indeed there's a problem. but let's not solely blame the ins.co. yah?

the basic problem is 19 year olds statistically gets into more accidents. they send more text msgs while driving, talk on the cell, and other general tomfoolery with friends, etc. because they don't respect the act and privilege of driving.

if americans drove like (western) europeans or the japanese, we wouldn't have to bitch about our ins. rates.
