What are people using for P2P to get MP3 files?

I'm still back in the days of Kazaa - what are people using now to get individual MP3 files. I know there are a lot of bittorrent sites out there but if you were trying to get a specific MP3 (say Bruce Springstein's "Born To Run") you might catch hell trying to find an active torrent for it. What is the current P2P sharing program?

Savington 12-20-2006 03:28 AM

I use iTunes - sure, you pay for it, but the high-speed downloads and high-quality MP3s are worth the $.99.

For stuff that's not on iTunes, I still use Kazaa. :D

I thought Kazaa was dead? Like I said, it has been a LONG time since I have messed with that stuff. Hehehe, actually never thought of paying for it - yes, probably worth $1.

Well, just tried Kazaa again for the first time in a few years. I couldn't find either of the MP3's I looked for (Free Ride and Low Rider). Are there any files on there <G>?

www.utorrent.com

www.torrentspy.com

use the bittornado as my torrent application

rmcelwee 12-20-2006 09:58 AM

No, those torrent programs are no good for what I need. There are probably 10,000 people with Born To Run on their computers but zero who made a torrent in the past 5 days that is still active. Slim to no chance to get an older song that way (as far as I know). Yes, if I want to get the newest rap cd it would be no big deal - try downloading Low Rider (the old song by War) and you will fail miserably.

FWIW, I get much better throughput with Utorrent than I did with bittornado. In fact, BitTornado stopped working for me on my Linksys WRT54G router (a common complaint with a lot of BitTornado users).

Sounds pretty futile.:eek4:

what you want to do is use the online radio station www.pandora.com and then find one of the "Grabber" programs. Make a few stations with the music you like and just let it play all day. The grabber program will put every song it plays on your hard drive and even organize it all by artist. Its a nice easy way to get a gig and a half of music a day with little effort.

emule?

also isohunt.com and mininova.org if you use torrents.

Morpheus works fine as well for single files. Aries is another option. Limewire has a ton of malware on it. Either way i don't use them, I'm a Mac user and use Poison or Acquisition, sometimes iTunes for something I want in high quality or that can't be found elsewhere.

Newbsauce 12-21-2006 09:04 AM

I use Shareaza

Rage_Kage 12-21-2006 10:44 AM

limewire here

Loki047 11-19-2007 03:13 PM

Napster, and then a program to reencode. Best option, fastest and best quality

will it code them to mp3 or flac with NO drm?

Loki047 11-19-2007 04:09 PM

yes. MP3 and you can pretty much download whatever bit rate you want.

Tune Bite is the way to go. Supposedly you can just rip the drm and not encode them again, but Ive been too lazy to look.

kotomile 11-19-2007 05:02 PM

I was going to chime in with "eMule" but I've been too busy lol'ing @ hustlers av
