You have to be sure to thoroughly drain and flush the oil system afterward, as you don't want that crap hanging around in the engine once you're done with it, but for ring seating, this method is supposedly ****.

Dont i want the zinc phosphorus zdp etc etc etc???

I thought that what oil is good for miata is basically good for most cars unless oil weight is way off.
